I believe he spent his time on the bench because he was in and out of injury the whole season.

That said, things are nicely poised for Switzerland to get eliminated by an ecuadorian goal against France...The swiss team needs to score in the 2nd half as many goal as Ecuador in the 2nd half to go through, unless the french team scores more or as many... France is at ease though. For them to not go through they would need to lose by 3-0 to Ecuador and the Swiss would have to score another three goals to win 5-0 against Honduras!

PS: It should be noted that Switzerland is leading 2-0 yet are botching 90% of their attacking phases. Weird. Poorest team to ever score 6 goals in the group phase of a world cup!

Shaqiri even when healthy is a bench player for Bayern due to Ribery and Robben which is why he's rumored to be leaving Bayern this summer.

Ecuador is done. Why Manc gave Valencia a new contract I'll never know. He's turned into a pretty shit player.

That Valencia guy for Ecuador (the good one, not Antonio)...
Indeed

I can see why it was a red card as he went in with his studs showing and according to the letter of the law, that is a sending off but I think he genuinely tried to win the ball and not to injure the player. His foot slid off the football and down the guy's leg.

Szila's team odds on now for qualification.

Utd can do muchmuchbetter than Valencia on their right wing. I would imagine he won't last much longer with Van Gaal coming in.

You can see how crap Valencia is when Ecuador are playing better with him off the pitch and being down to 10 men

I don't know what's more frustrating about this Ecuador-France game. The seemingly lack of motivation to qualify to the next round from Ecuador, or France not being able to score against them.

France doesn't need to over exert themselves since they more or less are already qualified. Ecuador being one man short is always going to struggle against 11 men.

I don't think it's just the lack of 11 men. Partially it's the coach having them play a mid-defensive game instead of pushing them forward, specially after the expulsion. They have to play to win, not to tie. France, I don't think they are playing poorly within their circumstance, they just can't put the ball in.

Schneiderlin impressing with France - Ecuador had some chances the last 10 minutes but couldn't convert. Now that this crap is out of the way, we can prepare for the big one tomorrow. Not to be a Debbie downer, but I have a shit feeling about both our game, and Ghana/Portugal. Hope I'm wrong....

I did find it strange that they waited until like the 88th minute to bring on another striker when they needed 2 goals to overtake Switzerland. Poor tactics definitely.

France were wasteful in their shots. Had many chances and couldn't finish any of them.

Oh well, France and Switzerland qualify. Bring on USA - Germany and Portugal - Ghana! All four teams can simulatiously qualify and be knocked out too. Should be a cracking couple of games.

Klinsmann probably sneakly go into the German changing room before the game and say 'Meine Freunde! Let's just score one each, play out a draw, no injuries and we both qualify for old times sake, Ja?' nudgenudgewinkwink'

Gutted for the misses, her whole family could kill A. Valencia right now. Raking his studs down Digne's leg definitely was intentional as he had time to pull back yet still went with it. He stole a living at ManU last year and that seems to be continuing for the national team.

LFC bias kicking in here. Nothing new. I'd rather take a smack than someone spit in my face any day of the week. Some cunt spits at you? It's going to be W A R
I'd rather someone spit at me and then fight then have my leg snapped in half and my career ended. How about you?

In the 2nd half, the offensive animation was slightly better for Switzerland, but the defense became somewhat shaky. Bah. Job is done, two wins and a loss to France was pretty much what was expected, scoring 7 goals is a nice surprise, but suffering 6 does not bode well for the round of 16 match against Argentina.

As for that red card on Valencia, I find it a bit surprising I must say. It's a single leg tackle, leg on the ground, not from behind and 100% ball at first. Beuh.

And obviously Group E stands for Europe!

Again, are those tackles worse than Suarez's? Are you saying Suarez on his own does stuff worse, aside from the biting, than your average player? If he truly was going to bite Chiellini at the Confed Cup don't you think someone would have been said at that time. Just as some LFC fans can be delusional the vitriol from ManU/ManC/Arsenal fansare just as delusional. Paul Scholes tried to punch a player but I'm sure Pks would be here defending him until the end as a Saint if need be.
Does it really hurt you that much to admit Saurez is a cunt?
