I can imagine the outcry if a dodgy bounce in the penalty area where the pitch is at its worst affects the outcome. I'm not sure if it's better to play on it first (England v Italy) or later (US v Portugal), depends if they can fix it inbetween games because if not it will be in really sorry shape for the US.

People were making the same claim that the russians were painting grass green during Sochi, but some landscaping professional mentioned on reddit that it's more likely a liquid consisting of quick-growing seeds, fertilizer and some coloring, which is an industry staple used to repair/kickstart grass fields.
