Fuck me, what a finish! Pretty great game, if a little sloppy. France vs Germany should be fun viewing this weekend

France didn't look that great either. A lot will depend on whether Deschamps plays Giroud, which he shouldn't, and whether Low plays Lahm in midfield, again a no.
yeah....today was france's worst game so far but still, was better than germany today. and i think germany has the worst team in years

Truth be told, the only winning team that looked good so far has been Colombia. It was a struggle for all the others.

Think the same way. they are beautiful playing on the pitch and their females fans are beautiful on the stands.
So....they deserve to win

I heard Belgium needs some Democracy brought to them.

There are good players in the Belgian side but they haven't really sorted themselves out as a team yet. Last time I saw them they only played well for the last 10 minutes or so, but when they did they looked very good indeed.

From yesterday's games, it's reported that Onazi may have a broken ankle after that nasty-looking tackle.

It's nonsense that "they haven't sorted themselves out as a team yet". Team spirit has never been better and the team's configuration has been constant over the last 2 years. The tactic they used over the 3 group games was always the same: play very organized, let the opponents tire themselves while preserving energy as much as possible (playing low tempo except for a few counters), then bring in fresh attacking players and go into overdrive in the last 20 minutes. Rather boring for 70 minutes? Yes. Bad play? No.
I suspect Klinsmann to be aware of this tactic. Question is if he will curb the energy expenditure of the US team, which would be against their style.

They aren't saving their energy, they just aren't playing well for most of the matches.

""We didn't play a very good match," Hazard said. "The last 10 minutes were good, that's all" [after the Russia game]

"We were a bit slow in the first half. We did not find solutions to a team that did not want to play. After that we saw momentum." [Wilmots after the Algeria game]
It's not the team spirit that's the problem, it's the way they link up with each other, they haven't looked (to me) like they are all on the same wavelength. They have the players to do it, and in patches they've done it, but I don't buy that it's some master plan to play disjointed football for 70 minutes and allow the opposition to wear themselves out running at your defence.

True that Belgium hasn't been able to execute plan A yet (which is to just dominate, create chance after chance and score one, two, three), since Lukaku has been a let down for 2 games. He got his own hopes too high for this tournament and after performing sub-par in the first 2 games, he got frustrated with his own performances and lost his mojo. So then you execute plan B: try to make the difference in the last 20 minutes when you know you're still relatively fresh, with the input of a few tactical subs. It worked 3 for 3 now, even when behind 1 goal against Algeria (a dangerous team we neutered to 3 shots over the whole game, although Vertonghen stupidly gifted them that penalty) or playing the 2nd half with only 10 (after the sending off of Defour) against South-Korea.
