The Conquest situation happened around the same time there was drama on the wow forums about how Furor was supposedly giving secret leet MC strats to FoH(my memory assumes it was FoH) and abusing his position at Blizzard. It was what led to a fair number of the '05ers (myself included)

Which is why we were told to stop winning.

Conquest was banned for split pulling Golemagg to Garr's room.
Which forced the introduction of tethers and bosses being able to reset. Everything Conquest did was a legitimate use of available in game mechanics. FoH only has Lucifron for all of vanilla, so there wasn't a lot of strat sharing back then. Conquest is listed for the rest save Golemagg, Majordomo, and Rag. Conquest sharing strats definitely allowed the masses to punch through those bosses. BWL, AQ, and Naxx were the last vestiges of "secret society" strats.

Blizzard's stance has always been "if we suck at programming, we'll ban you for it." Just one of the reasons they're terrible.

BWL was the blatant "you are testing this for us on live" that even casual raiders became aware of since most encounters went through 5 or more variations before being finalized. Resist gear on the tank for Ebonroc so the debuff never landed was funny but the week after when the fixed version was cast on the nearest player (usually a rogue) instead of the tank.. that was straight up "we didn't even test this ourselves once"

Don’t start with rogues and BWL. As a healer during that I still hate them not being able to manage traps effectively.

My only complaint with rogues in PVE was the disparity between their dps. Our top rogue dps with sword/dagger, sword specialization, Hand of Justice and Blackhand's Breadth trinkets, just wrecking, and no one else taking a hint on spec and gear, even if he had to Feint almost on cool down with Windfury.

Cause some asshole guild had the gall to raid Molten Core on 1.3 test and the nitwits here and in the rest of the community cried about how unfair that was so Blizzard didn't put BWL on test.

That's because a disappointing number of rogues were obnoxious edgelords (or had other mental problems) who were more concerned with looking the part than playing the part. With WotLK most of them rerolled to Deathknight, though. I guess so they can feel important and boss people around because now THEY are the tank.

Also, if I was dictator I would send all players who created character names like "Darkrouge" off to the gulag. Clearly you are built for manual labor and not for progressing the human gene pool if you can't put the five characters of your class in the correct order--when the game showed you how you spell it seconds ago when you clicked the class.

I miss raiding. I can remember dumping all of my saved DKP on a corrupted ashbringer for my holy paladin, I pissed off so many warriors in my guild.

I was on the same server as Leeroy Jenkins, obviously that video attracted a lot of people to the server and we took a warrior called "Leeroysapren" through Molten Core when it was on farm, that was short for Leeroys Apprentice

I think it was Nostromo? Rags second in command or whatever it was called that dropped a pike that was perfect for this noob, kid was an absolute scrub and we only took him for lols

Entire guild expected me to let him have it, stunned silence then quiet compliance when I told them to disenchant it. Now that is true power

We got Vael down and through some cross server chatter learned you could work your way through the gate that didn't open with some noggenfogger... first guy gets through and a GM boots him and tells us to get fucked unless we want to be banned. Them saying the gate not opening was a bug and they were investigating was so infuriating.

My guild downed Razorgore the first night with ease bc the encounter bugged and none of the adds spawned.

You know what was amazing in Classic? The Hunter epic bow chain.

Know what wasn't awesome in classic? The complaining about hunters who couldn't kite, despite a stupid amount of abilities making it so never being hit by the shadow things was stupid easy.

Power of being as asshat, maybe. I still get salty about losing grey suede boots in VP to a Druid who wanted them “for the AC” back in EQ1. Context: I was the only monk w/o them there and the Druid was some cybersex pal to the officer in the guild we were allied with and they used their loot pick for that. Grey suede boots were a BiS haste item for monks at the time.

Viskagg mh, don’t remember offhand. With the aggro reduction blessing I could just use vanish to reset, and just go to town. I generally tipped parses unless I got unlucky for some reason. Dagger rogues didn’t take over until hemo became viable in... aq?
