So considering playing this some in preparation for WOTLK. At first we were thinking of just rolling on a fresh server, but looking at current population ratios that seems like a huge gamble. We were Horde on Whitemane at release, but rolling Alliance this time to get the wives to play (lol). I was thinking Grobbulus looks like the only even remotely balanced server so was leaning that direction.

Does battlegrounds/arenas use battlegroups? Or is it just the single server?
I presume that the current classic servers will all progress to WOTLK? Not sure how that works vs archive servers.
Any compelling reasons we should roll elsewhere? Me and buddy just want to do BGs and 2's arena for fun. Dunno that wives will even hit max level, but we probably will. Don't care much about raiding.

If your wife is anything like my g/f - it's just going to be easier to buy her a boost. It'll keep you from having to break away from shit you're wanting to do to go help her with some shitty elite quest that only benefits her. Whereas if she needs help with something in WOTLK, best case it helps you, at worst its a 5 minute flight.

Also, my g/f rage quits after dying in pvp so something else to think about maybe? Grobbulus has a good ratio, but like 15k people logging into it even now. Come WOTLK - I imagine its going to be quite a pain in the ass getting past that queue. Westfall is Alliance PVE, where some of us plan on going. WOTLK world PVP is almost non-existent (unless you're counting Sons of Hodir area, or raid entrances) and PVP is centered around BG's anyways.

Good points. World PVP probably won't be a hit with the ladies. I'll probably have a character set aside to only play with her so doing pointless stuff shouldn't be an issue. She's not the soloing type. Grobb would probably be the most fun for me and my pal, but part of the reason we're doing this is to play as a group. Will look into Westfall. Thanks!

I was expecting multiple PvE fresh starts and only a couple PvP. Wowzers. I consider myself a PvP’er but WoW world PvP is just retarded.

Im sure some big brain person on their team is like "Well they're all going to play on the big servers anyways" or even better "We have like 30 empty servers they can join." Totally missing the point of a fresh start.

Regardless, I think they are vastly underestimating the amount of people that are going to come back for WOTLK. Popular, and well deserved to hate on Blizzard these days - so I'm imagining there is this silent group of people that are going to play it but haven't said shit about doing so.

They added a PvE fresh start.
I’ve updated the original post in this thread.

Following a great deal of feedback from players, we will open two new Fresh Start realms during maintenance on Tuesday:

Skyfury (PvP)
Maladath (Normal)
