You guys are high, WoW armor has been ugly since TBC.
When you raid endgame for 3 years and all the gear you get looks worse than whats put out on the itemshop weekly it kind of makes you wonder.

Old wow armor looks dope - thats not what im bringing up - and why did you link that ugly EQ2 armor? there are tons more on the shop and even more in the vault. Even worse is some of the armors you can get from raids look worse than that shit there.
Nah i was in WoW since beta - the old shit STILL looks the best and most people you see in transmog are still using shit from vanilla. Not many players you will come across who wont say the armor design is just a joke atm.

Probably because he's trying to logically illustrate WoW armor circa 05/06 vs EQ2 armor 05/06. Pally vs Pally. And WoW shows how far ahead they were. I remember everyone calling the Dwarven velious quest helms "the bucket", but holy fuck that EQ2 pic takes the cake. Jesus that's ugly.

By comparison yes WoW armor does look better than EQ2 - that will likely never change, tho EQ2 has had some good cash shop items, im pretty sure ive dumped hundreds into EQ2s cash shop as i would WoWs if it had some good transmog items in there as well. All of my toons are using transmog from ages ago just because everything now looks retarded(to me).

Most? Seriously, you're a fucking idiot. Some people do use the older sets, mainly because they are very easy to acquire compared to the more recent sets and because there's always a bunch of fucktards that want to look retro, or as shit as possible for the lulz.
Some designs aren't appealing to me (DK T14), while others stand out as awesome (paladin CM gear), but the quality of the work is nothing sort of amazing.

The issue is just that there's been so many sets and there's only so much artists can do. The old sets were the original defining look of each class. The newer ones are all loosely based on those but over so many iterations they stop being as recognizable.
But to call everything since 1999.. er... 2005 an atrocity is idiotic. There are good looks and bad ones in every tier.

If you're willing to farm them, you can always get the class-lookalike generic armor. My paladin was transmogged with full DK t13 thanks to Galleon and generic plate DPS drops. I don't know that that's an option with every class tier, but it definitely is for plate wearers:
