Suramar is definitely one of the best zones they've ever done, and Suramar City is one of the best cities in the entire game.

If I was ranking all the zones in the game that I've actually quested through, it would probably be my #1. It's hard to really compare to other zones, though, just because it really is sort of one of a kind.

Probably would be easier to rank zones within each expansion they were a part of. Overall Wrath would probably get my nod for most consistently good set of zones within an expansion, as the only one I didn't think was any good was Zul'drak. Legion would come close, although I didn't start it until like 7.2.5.

Vanilla I don't really remember much of before the cataclysm but for me

TBC -> Before Ogri'la was added Nagrand, after it was added Blade's Edge Mountains
Wrath -> Storm Peaks
Cataclysm -> Uldum
MoP -> Timeless Isle
WoD -> Nagrand
Legion -> Suramar
BfA -> Drustvar

All i remember from icecrown was a) half the raid being out of phase and unable to click summoning portal and b) abusing the joust event to kill swarms of enemies during the valentine's day event

The phasing was both its strength and weakness. The entire zone was built around phasing and utilized it to let the quests progress through a story of invading the zone and providing a lot of background about Arthas, Frostmourne, and other elements like letting you relive the fight between him and Illidan. There are some really excellent quests near the end of the zone progression. The phasing problems with friends was a definite problem though, and all the garbage they added in with the tournament stuff just piled onto it and made it far worse.

Low key I think Borean Tundra overall was kind of bad compared to Howling Fjord, but it had Coldara subzone and that quest line that culminated with Lich King showing up briefly that somehow made it actually pretty damn good. I do agree Storm Peaks > Grizzly Hills, though. TBC Blade's Edge legit only zone I couldn't stand. Leveling in TBC was great (mainly b/c I skipped straight to Zangar to avoid the lag/masses in Hellfire on Day 1, then went back to do quest exp after most moved into Zangar), other than Blade's Edge which was so trash I couldn't wait to get to Netherstorm.

After Ogri'la was added Blade's Edge became the hotness.

I didn't mind the 70+ flying areas in Blade's Edge (and agreed Ogri'la was actually pretty good), but the leveling experience dragged so much I just can never think of it as a good zone. This with me even liking the whole Starship Troopers references. I just remember being so happy to finally be out of there moving to Area 52 in Netherstorm. Granted I never have leveled a Horde toon beyond like 30 so couldn't say how Horde experience was for any expansion. Always wondered if zones were much better/worse than they were for Alliance.

Horde is always the superior leveling experience. Every Time.

How would you rate their BFA zones out of curiosity? I know most Horde hate their new city, but I kind of liked their zones going through them as Alliance but to hear Nazmir get rated so low kind of sucks.

Alliance got better zones but Horde has quest lines in them anyway. Horde got the better storyline (for questing, the overall storyline is the dumbest shit of all time)

I was shocked when I skipped to the end of that video and Asmon had Stormsong as high as he did. Drustvar was pretty good, but other 2 zones for Alliance were a fucking slog for me.

Alliance had a better Onyxia quest in vanilla, though. We had HBO Oz references in our escort quest lol

Every zone is BFA is trash. It is the first expansion in any game where I disliked every single aspect of it.

Drustvar had a good theme and aesthetic, but wasn't very good otherwise. The other zones were completely forgettable. BFA questing as a whole was the worst the game has seen.
