I'm of the opinion that most MMO communities suck these days, but I'll be damned if WoW's community isn't the worst. It's a fucking toxic cesspool.

I don't think that's ever changed. You just try and avoid it as much as possible, and get into a guild of people that doesn't have so much sludge!

I've been doing a lot of old school rep farming and soloing on my main toon. Just got hunter and mage their Crystal of Insanity this morning. Only have 1 other toon at 90 and all three hit lfr every week. Nalak too. May add oondasta someday, but I hate that island.
Yea, doing something for the first time, even the first time on another alt is great. You feel...maybe not enthusiastic, but like it's worthwhile.

There are just tons of quality of life things they need to work on with this xpac. I mean hell, the throne of thunder quests weren't so bad - they are reminiscent of the Isle of Quel'danas quests and all that, but some of the things are just ri-god-damn-diculous for what they are. I really, REALLY have to kill something like Itoka every day? The idea I assume is that many people will do it, but often I find myself doing dailies out of boredom late at night so it's just me. Itoka isn't hard, but he takes a long time, since you have to click all of those stupid conductors. And then the platform jumping, ugh.

There's also the issue that they are stalling on things that should be in now; tri-spec got pushed back from 5.3 and I kid you not, Ghostcrawler's bullshit answer was that they were worried if a class like a rogue had 3 specs then every rogue would be the same. To me, that is more an issue of some talents being generally utter shit for some classes, not tri-spec. And every class benefits from tri-spec, especially since so many encounters change, and having a tree for AE, or hard hitting single target, or survivability on the side is most excellent. Then there's the other classes, where tri-spec now legitimately means you become a completely different role. And we're worried that your shitty talents make a class like a rogue cookie cutter? Go fuck yourself.

I've also mentioned before that I just really think they are so out of touch with the community. This whole "MOP is designed to be done casually, take it slow" and then casuals were fucking less likely to do ANYTHING. I imagine people are annoyed by now hearing me complain about druids, but jesus. Our issues haven't changed since the beginning of Cata; we've ebbed and flowed, primarily due to encounters than to any real changes done to the class, and the one thing that hurts us the most is balancing around pvp. But that doesn't matter, and no matter how many times the math is done, parses are run, field tests are had, and questions directly asked of a dev, they think druids are fine. Shamans for that matter too. It's fucking ridiculously bad.

Sorry, late night and I'm doing isle dailies so I'm in a ranting mood. They're practically hemorrhaging subscribers at this point, so what they should generally say is that quality of life are probably going to at least drag things out, but i really don't see much of that happening.

The goddamn dailies is what ruined this expansion for me, MoP had some cool stuff, but fuck I felt like I was logging into a second job every night. Of course Blizz is defending the daily quest system, I am seriously, who the fuck enjoys doing dailies every day? Reminds me of how long they stuck by the idea of the Warlock soul shard system, and how it was a great feature.

Nobody enjoys dailies, and they know that, but the big drop off due to shit-all-to-do they had in Cata scared them and they introduced crap that was incredibly grindy to keep people "engaged". And whether we like them or not: they are a reason that pops up in our heads when we're thinking "do I want to log in today? Well, if I don't: I'll be behind on my dailies" etc... but like most things the novelty and the giving-a-fuck measure wears off and it turns into something that hurts engagement more than it helps.

Thank Elune I'm not the only one who thinks Dailies are fucking awful gameplay design mechanics. I was pretty much "meh" towards them when they first came out in BC because they were mostly optional. Then when you needed to do them in order to raise your cooking I was a bit pissed off, but it was only one so I wasn't too bothered. But in MoP, whoever decided it would be a good idea to tie purchasing VP equipment to reputations that you could only raise via dailies needs to be fired pronto. Holy fuck that pissed me off so much I quit for a while. The only next logical step is for the only way to level up in the next expansion is through dailies.

Agreed, dailies are awful. This is the first expansion where I hit 90 with one character and left the other 5-6 characters I play around the level 87-88 mark because I couldn't imagine doing dailies for 7 characters in MoP. Barring the magical "5.4" patch (or an expansion), I don't see myself playing WoW again.

tl;dr Dailies are shit.

Dailies are fucking awful.

That said, I never minded them during Wrath or BC. Other than the shoulder enchant in wrath, they were optional. They need to offer rep options and tie reps with no other options to shit like Raptor SkyLion Mount of Whatever. I liked dominance offensive, the isle, and tillers. Rest can blow me.

However, the biggest bullshit was double gating gear with rep and valor!!!That fucking pissed me off. If I grind that rep, let me buy the gear with gold. Or let me grind valor for different gear. Jesus.

Netherwing REP was awesome. I loved grinding that out.

This is why I quit playing.

Eh, as someone who just recently did the Netherwing daily grind to get exalted (deleted my BC chars way back) I can assure you that they're just as annoying as current dailies. It's just that they were something new back then and didn't come with a huge amount of battered-player baggage.

I believe the Isle of Quel'danas was also a rep then badge gated system too, but it was also a case where the major method of gearing was purely raiding. Doing that for EVERY FUCKING FACTION sucks cock. Massive cock.

I had no issues with Dom Off. It was mid tier and had sorta "catch me up" items and a fun, entertaining grind. The initial shit was fucking mandatory. (Even though it wasn't...heard that argument. Fuck you, it was.)

Actually, it was more of the "I don't have to do this every day to get the ability to purchase new gear that I have to grind separately for", not the "these dailies are amazing" aspect. I loved doing the quests, races, etc, and if I missed a day, it wasn't a problem.

The amount of dailies tied together in the same location is also stupid. Dom Off was well done in the style of dailies, the variation, the rewards and the quantity. Golden Lotus would've been much easier to do if it stopped at 8. Isle of Thunder was enjoyable until phase 4 where you now, instead of 3 or 4 quests at 3 locations, you have 1-3 at 4 locations. It got worse with phase 5 with 1-3 at 6 locations and fucking stupid ending quests to the line. The effort:reward and annoyance factor are way off.

Doing a couple of Klaxxi, Shado-Pan, August Celestials, Order of the Cloud Serpent, The TillersorThe Anglers would've been fine. But because I had to do all the un-fun factions for valor gear, the 2 factions I wanted to do (The Anglers and OotCS) were put off until after I was already fed up with dailies. Add in all the achievements for each one and the fact that you never, ever wanted to see those factions again after that miserable grind, it put even more pressure on while you were doing them. Now I do Tiller dailies and nothing else so I can keep my coin count up, because they're the least painful to do and get me the cooking award. I would've much rather been working on one faction at a time and doing the relevant achievements as I go and not feel like I'm significantly losing out if I don't do them one day.

I might even be doing PvP still if dailies didn't suck the life out of the game.

They need to bring back the events where like one dude on a server becomes Scarab Lord.. shit was fun back then at least

Ahh, yeah. Hopefully they'll realize that by forcing us into the dailies it just creates something to blame them for, rather than dailies that just give a very optional reward that doesn't influence progression is completely our choice and something we can only blame ourselves for.

I rather enjoyed the argent tourney dailies. There were tons of different types of shit you could get as a reward, but none of them were anything other than vanity items. I still do them every so often in order to get the few rewards I missed. But fuck me if I'll ever do another Golden Lotus daily without wanting to rip my eyes out.

Fuck no. Designing anything in the game for what results in only 100-200 people in an entire region being able to do is fucking retarded.

Dailies are fine when they're an accelerated way to do something (gold-farming, rep-farming, justice/valor-farming) for people without much time each day, and when other non-daily-gated options are present to perform the same activities.

When there are 43+ of them (bye bye "not much time to play" consideration), and they are the ONLY way to do certain things (Rep Grind until they added the War Scouts and the first-dungeon-of-the-day rep bonus, which is basically another daily, Lesser Charms), they become a bit bullshit.

Now, Tabard Dungeon runs made cataclysm faction a joke, but you could have, I don't know, reduced the gain, instead of eliminating it entirely, and at least provided the illusion that people weren't shackled to a mountain of dailies to get access to their recipes/valor gear at the start of the expansion.

Reducing the gain with tabards was completely viable. I think they're listening.

I do not see why games like this have to be socialist so everyone is equal, half of the fun is being better then the man next to you.

I thought TBCs rep system was OK, you could get to honored by questing in the zone, revered in normals, and exalted in heroics. Rep was locked to the dungeon/faction of that zone. The TBC heroics pre-nerf were pretty damn tough, you needed revered faction to even step foot into them, which could only be gotten by running normal dungeons, so by the time you got the rep to zone into a heroic you had few dungeon blues and some dungeon experience. Dailies came out, and you pretty much only grinded the rep for mounts or to grind out gold for the non farmers/AH tycoons.
