I'm using luna unitframes, ktm for emu servers, atlas/atlasloot for emu servers, questie, and a bunch of little stuff like fubar (auto-repair, sell greys, track alt rested, professions, all the addon minimap buttons, etc.) and onebag. Some guy adapted power auras, and the original is functional, but I'm not really satisfied with either iteration.

I'm actually pretty surprised they are shutting Nost down. When the emu servers first started appearing I expected Blizzard to lawyer-smack them down within the first month. Since they didn't and let Nost hang around for a year I think everyone assumed they didn't give a shit about it. I wonder why they are deciding to do this now.

If anything good comes from this, the Nost people said they arereleasing their source codeand stuff, so expect to see some clones soon.

We know the time you spent here, the guilds you were part of, and these people with whom you have shared experiences with. We know the strength of these links, and we also know that they do not need a special WoW realm to survive. However, we will still be publicly providing everything needed in order to setup your own ?Nostalrius? if you are willing to.

Today is also the day where Nostalrius will start being community-driven in the truest sense of the word, as we will be releasing the source code, and anonymized players data (encrypting personal account data), so the community as a whole will decide the form of the future of Nostalrius. We will still be there in the background if you want us to, but will no longer take the lead.

I am sad to hear this. Was having fun on a 60 rogue in battlegrounds/instances. Alas not all things last forever, at least I won't spend any part of this summer on WoW!.

I think it was not just great, it was fucking amazing. I don't spend time on private servers exactly for this reason: one day I may lose all my shit just because stuff happens.
If Blizzard would release a vanilla server, I'd spend 90% of my WoW time there and 10% playing on live servers. I don't mind the subscription, I'd even pay a small extra for such service.

Well I enjoyed my time there. There were definitely many bugs and inconsistencies with vanilla, but I'd do it again. The worst part is it coming to an end. Blizzard should do it themselves and/or license groups like the Nostalrius team to do it for them.

If I still had time to play anything these days I think a long time locked WoW server would be awesome. I'd want at least 8 months to a year per expansion I think. Greatest regret from emerald dream was not finishing thunderfury on my gnome rogue. One binding and all the crafting mats already set up. Fucking Geddon....

The petition is almost 30k now. Doubt it will convince them to do anything other than a token pr statment about how its not consistent with their plans, blahblah. A non buggy, professionally maintained server would be nice though. Too bad they sunk a bunch of money into Titan they can't make back -_-.

WoW had a lot of flaws in vanilla as did most MMOs of old. But they are still 1000x more fun than the piles of shit that are out today. Leveling was actually part of the game and not just something you speed through via xp bonuses for teleporting to an instance and never actually seeing the overland content.

I just switched back to Rebirth. Have a 31 alliance mage there. Population hovering around 400 as of right now which is pretty good from a few months ago. Even with the low population on Rebirth the server is still fun as most people are extremely helpful so getting stuff done isn't much of an issue.

This does suck but think about if you spend all your time now leveling a guy to 100 gearing him out etc. and now Legion release and everything on him is useless within a day. I would rather a Blizz vanilla server but doubt we'll ever see it or at least for several years until their numbers drop and they are no longer the big MMO
