Oof. So they're concerned the patch notes are so big and so negative it would drive people away. They want people either playing or committed to playing before reading them.

They said they are still adding to them and will be right up till they release the notes

Concerning and this is a trend that's been way before poe2, and I'm not talking about patch notes release. I'm talking about their unwillingness to take risks on the meta. Poe used to switch up metas almost every league or at least one league per year would be the "balance" patch. But they stopped doing that I think around 3.17ish.

While it's not a huge deal it does hint that company is more risk adverse and I think what made GGG so great through the years was their willingness to take risks. They seem to have settled more into a more rigid design philosophy.

Also it's beta who gives a fuck what you nerf the patch cycles should be 1 month at most cmon.

This machiavellian bastard is going to force you to play this piece of shit lazy game for another 500 hours.

It can't be that they are struggling to make deadlines due to the ambition of the project, it must be an evil plot.

The large majority of the PoE2(and PoE1 if we're being honest) does not "explore" the game. They follow build guides. But I bet the sweaty nerds that write those guides would appreciate a bit more help than GGG seems willing to give.

4/4 cutting it too close or something vindictive going on?

That would be great about the 500 hours. It wasn't anywhere near that for launch but we'll see.

It's not like they don't make big decisions based on this kind of shit.

They stopped treating early access as early access right away. Withholding the information they've always provided in the past (patch notes and gem information) fits right in with this new vision. It might impact the game negatively if people have the full information before they're playing so don't give it to them.

I think this is actually pretty cool. Just wish the support gem UI itself was less shit so it'd be easier to look at everything. Wonder if they even updated the "recommended" tabs for these new supports.

The post by Jonathan about treating it as in-league rather than early access is exactly why only small QoL has happened. Look up posts from December 12th when the CoF nerf hit. The sky was falling. People were "quitting" a week in. This is what happens when you listen to the masses. Chris just did shit and then told you why he did shit later. That was better, IMO. Develop your game for your game, not for the 5,000 angry Redditors/"content creators" pulling the game in 6 different directions.

Made it like 8 mins through the huntress video and just couldn't do it. Will probably roll one up over the weekend and see how it goes, but if I last a month in the new league I'll be impressed.

Adjusted Minion Damage and Life scaling. General Damage and Life is the same early game, but lower than before at higher levels, especially past Gem level 20+

To compensate for the Lich I presume.

Frost Mage pets took a hit..

Freeze now builds up roughly 48% slower on enemies.

They should have started those patch notes with the sentence "First of all, dear friend, tell me how you are. Set your friend's mind at rest,"

That was a lot of notes....

If you're not a Lich

is going to hurt. If you are a lich

you're going to be a lot closer to your minions to give them Unholy Might

These notes are packed with nerfs and some of them are pretty mean. Just something like

1743641696616.png

is rough. You're going to be spending like 70% more flask charges when running out was already a thing that could happen. Then of course

is a huge haircut.

Things that have jumped out to me so far:
  • Player base Ailment Threshold is now half of Maximum Life (previously all of Maximum Life).
    • Seems like they really want you to pay attention to ailments and stuns but I don't feel like there are necessary tools to do so.
  • The Connected Chemistry Ascendancy Passive Skill has been removed. Enduring Elixirs no longer has a prerequisite.
    • This was the 50% more flask charges node. This is probably a preemptive nerf to always-on life flasks + Shavronne's Satchel. Which sucked anyway because you can't activate life flasks at full life
  • Concoction Skills now require an unarmed weapon set. They no longer deal your base unarmed damage, instead dealing only attack damage specified from the Skill, like Marks. They now consume 5 Mana Flask charges per use (previously 3).
    • Concoction skills cost almost twice as much flask charges and Pathfinders will generate 33% less. Gonna be hard/impossible to sustain that. Really liked those skills for league start since they were mana free and no jeweler's orbs required.
  • Curse Skills now apply their Curse after a 1.5 second delay (previously 1 second).
    • Yay, curses are even gayer.
  • Gas Arrow, Gas Grenades and Decompose now have a limit of 6 Poison Clouds.
    • FUN DETECTED
  • The Poison Cloud on Gas Arrow, Gas Grenade and Decompose now gain 20% more Radius per second, up to a maximum of 80% (all previously 50%, up to a maximum of 200%).
    • wtf? Why nerf the radius if nobody is going to blow them up anymore?
  • Grim Feast can no longer be engraved in the Gemcutting menu. Existing Grim Feast Gems have been disabled, we aim to rework Grim Feast in the coming future.
    • lol. This is going to catch so many people offguard that depended on it unknowingly(following a build guide) for their sustain and ehp.
  • Lightning Rod Arrow now disappears after being Chained to 6 times at all Gem levels (previously 8-14 times at Gem levels 1-20). Arrows now take 1 second to charge up before releasing a Lightning Burst when chained to. Lightning Arrows that chain to Lightning Rod arrows cause the pulse to happen instantly instead of needing to charge up.
    • MORE FUN DETECTED
  • Tempest Bell's impact now deals 146-490% of Attack Damage at Gem levels 3-20 (previously 145-316%). Now requires 10 Combo to use (previously 4), and the Bell is destroyed after 10 Hits at all Gem levels (previously 10-19 at Gem levels 3-20). Quality now causes the Bell to be destroyed after +0-2 Hits (previously +0-6).
    • Everyone know Tempest Bell was going to be nerfed, but this is straight up dead. 10 combo is unusable for how much bosses move around in this game.
  • Withering Touch now has a chance to apply Withered based on the amount of chaos damage dealt by the hit (from always applying a single stack), and allows that chance to roll over beyond 100% to potentially apply multiple stacks with large hits.
    • Nerf to Eye of Winter - Withering Touch phrased as a buff. Gross.

Ugh, this is getting long enough. Didn't even read the endgame or unique section yet. Nothing jumps out as interesting yet, just lots of fun detected and a few skills adjusted upwards numerically.

Only thing I liked was the waystone dropping changes. You cant drop T1s in a T15 anymore and bosses always drop +1 or something like that.

People will still find a way to break the endgame, but damn, TONS of nerfs
