Kaepernick's been going through his reads and progressions just fine so far this preseason. This game not so much, but the offensive line was a complete sieve and they were constantly getting pressure.

His stats show he's been below average during the small sample size of the preseason. You should know what you get with Kaep at this point. If you expect some huge evolution in his passing game at this point you're going to be disappointed

Stats from 4 drives when they don't even have a game plan means jack and shit. If the offense still looks like this 3 or 4 games into the regular season then we can start making proclamations.

He wasnt even that great in college and has been down right mediocre in the NFL. I'm not sure why anyone is expecting a quantum leap from this guy.

20/10/3500 is all you'll ever get out of him and that's on a championship caliber team. Have fun with him QB'ing the 49ers to a 8-8 record when the team nucleus disintegrates by 2018 with his $20M/year salary.

I should mention that I suspect he'll be gone by then, traded to some AFC struggling castoff for a 4th round pick and a carton of smokes.

He doesn't need a huge evolution in his passing game. He's already proven to be an effective and efficient qb, despite what biased hyperbole you try to fling. He needs improvements in some areas, and I'm confident he can make them as he gets more experience.

Shouldn't that mean every QB in the league does terrible then or would I be wrong to assume that only good QBs will do good under those circumstances?

I agree it's a small sample size, but his numbers are consistent with his career averages.

He does get to play Dallas week 1, though, so that should help inflate his numbers

You would be wrong to assume that you can infer anything from a tiny amount of data. Shit in the second game he was 2 inches away from completing like a 65 yard touchdown bomb to Brandon Lloyd. If he made that catch the stat line would be totally different. As I have said like 10 times in this thread, making proclamations about a player or a team based on preseason is just dumb.

Its not just that. They had 8 consecutive scoreless qurters in the preseason.

6 and a half of those quarters the starters weren't playing. What's your point?

With Bradford going down watch the Vikings trade Ponder to them and then beat the Vikings game one. That would be HILARIOUS.

Yeah, lets trade a guy to a team you play week one who can tell them about every scheme they are running and what to expect with every formation.

It wont happen anyways.

Just noticed Gravy picked the Bengals to win the division. I'm so glad I finally have a black friend!

I guess we will just have to disagree, it may be a small sample size but I don't see huge things changing as others have said. I would be having a fit right now if Brees looked like shit the other night in his only preseason game.

Preseason is a pretty good indicator of how players will play in the regular season. Like when the 0-16 Lions went 4-0 in the preseason. Or when A.J. Jenkins tore it up in the preseason his rookie year.

In reality, you can't look too much into stuff that happens in the preseason. 49ers have played like shit every preseason under Harbaugh.
