Theory is that Bernard is a host replica of Arnold and was incapable of seeing himself in the picture similar to Abernathy glitching out on the picture of the women in Times Square.

That's fucking dumb. It would imply that one of the founding members of the park is unknown to anyone but Ford. Unless they're all just cool with it for some reason. Which is also a contrived plot swerve.

Is there a succinct list of reasons why Bernard may be a host?

Doesn't seem like that's possible with what Ford said to Dolores about his father telling him to be happy with his lot in life. Seems like Ford's dad was a blue collar alcoholic rather than a master mind behind a park filled with androids. But at this point, who knows?

No list that I've seen, mostly it pops up in a few Reddit threads and a few more recently now that the picture is called into question. Basically, if you accept the multi-timeline theory then it's possible that the interaction between Delores and Bernard are in the earlier timeline and it's really Arnold we're seeing. The picture is of the host that Arnold created for Ford of his Dad and after shit goes down, Ford creates Bernard in Arnold's image.

I personally think that perhaps Arnold wasn't human to begin with and was an AI that was developed to help create the other AI. Considering that this is already happening today it's plausible but far fetched in terms of the show. Bernard could be the "beta" version that can be better controlled.

The only way for this not to be dumb is most of the staff at the facilities are robots who have their own operating parameters and this is all set up to happen ect ect. I guess still dumb, but a different sort of dumb.

They say this will all be revealed in episode 8. I'm a complete media plebe and tend to prefer more popcorn experiences, but for their sake, I hope they better have something cool up their sleeve at that point, or this thing will drop like a lead balloon. I already was kind of tepid at all the speculation over timelines, just because every time I have seen "fan theories" the real outcome never comes close, and when they get this wild, it will only be worse. And one thing I can count on, even though I personally enjoyed it, this episode showed that the writers may not be up to the same level as the fans' imaginations, and I feel that more people will be disappointed in the final outcome than not.

THIS is my newest thought as well!
Second thought, could ford have a split personality? Maybe he got medication 30 years ago, but the arnold/ford persona is still there, subconscious. Maybe the maze is for arnold/ford.....

I could see his Dad, and split personality. The latter would be just dumb, straight up. First wouldn't be so bad, but I'd like it more if it were his brother.

The maintenance tech scenes were very cringe worthy. They really lowered the quality of the show with those stupid guys.

Oh shit! yeah brother could work as arnold as well! Was wondering why ford stroked his brothers hair! ( think that was supposed to be his bro but could be wrong. with this theory ,maybe ford is the older brother, not younger?)
