10-4. Been a busy week. Memorial Day week is usually the best time to go online and find deals on chems. Chem prices are through the roof since Covid and a hurricane wiping out one of the only plants that manufacturer chlorine tabs. As long as your cyanuric levels are ok you can rely on the...

    Let's build some pools!

Moving the pool discussions from the home buying thread to here. I've been in the pool biz in north Texas since 1999 with a few detours out of it along the way. I started off on the weekly service side of things and transitioned to construction three years ago. Last year I got 51 pools...

Salt water pools are much better for your skin and the water feels "softer". It's one of the main selling points. Rising pH is a problem with salt water pools but it's due to the fact that when you split a molecule of NaCl (salt) via electrolysis, the aqueous Na+ ion forms NaOH : sodium...

If you shoot gunite you don't frame anything. I'm digging a little one tmrw and will document this one start to finish and make a thread about it in Grown Up. Might be interesting to some of you guys.

Wtf? You dug it by hand and then hand mixed concrete instead of just shooting gunite? No offense bro but that is some ass backwards, Mexican, do it the hard way shit. Rent a backhoe for a weekend and then call a gunite truck in. All that extra work and you probably didn't save more than a couple...

About 25,000 gallons. Giant waterslide built out of gunite with a grotto underneath it. Elevated spa. Propane fire pit. About 2k square feet of concrete decking. 16'x20' pavilion with an outdoor kitchen. These days a typical 15,000 gallon pool/spa combo with a nice big deck around it is gonna...

Yup. Cleaner: get a Polaris 280. They've been going since I started in 1999. They run forever and you just have to replace tire treads, bags, and backup valves when they wear out from normal wear and tear. Maybe a $100/yr. It's the one thing you DON'T want the newest latest product for. You...

Pool biz has been dropping off quite a bit since interest rates have shot up. There was a huge boom nationwide after Covid and lots of companies got overextended and are now just trying to keep their guys working. Never hurts to make a few calls and get a couple bids, I'm sure Tulsa has a few...

https://www.riverpoolsandspas.com/blog/fiberglass-pools-texas I'm not affiliated with these guys in any way, shape, or form but this is probably the type of thing you want to be looking at for that price range. Everything in OK is cheaper and things are slowing down so you might want to...

Last pool I had was 20 yrs old, no leaks. I ran the fill line from my house bib about 30 mins a week. That's the same as running your garden hose hose for thirty mins a week. And only during the summer months. That's a couple extra showers a week worth of water. When water temps get in the high...

Ya, I don't know much about above ground pools beyond that they sell em at Wal Mart. I think an in ground pre cast fiberglass shell is more appropriate for BFE locations.

If the water is clean and clear then 90% it's fine. To get something like cryptosporidium you'd have to literally be swimming with a baby that has a dirty diaper. Any non retard can follow the instructions on your test kit to keep the water good. 15%+ water bill is the dumbest thing I've read...

Salt systems have been around for 30+ years. Modern ones are fine and last about 3-5 years if you don't fuck up your chemicals. Warranties run three years on Jandy cells, not sure on the other two big manufacturers but I'm sure it's the same.

Salt levels in a pool are nowhere near what the ocean is. You also don't have salty ocean spray blowing over everything. The only metallics that come in contact with the water will be your salt cell itself and the copper manifold in your heater, both of which are corrosion resistant as long as...

Yes sir, Hobie Outback. I don't keep catfish that big, those are breeders, not eaters. I'm taking it down to Padre for a four day weekend tomorrow.
