Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

They've also confirmed half-orcs and dragonborn as the remaining two races, monk as the last class, all the subclasses (all PHB subclasses, and all two-subclass classes are getting a third one from the supplements), and confirmation of most of the party members, both Origin characters and...

    Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Now that's a big one. Looks like I can dump one of my 'shit that needs fixing' mods next time I decide to play.

Remakes You Would Like To See.

Live action, but with one of the kids still dubbed over with Eddie Deezen. Otherwise, what's the point?

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

I'm holding out (very possibly vain) hope that it'll end up being closer to 15 than 20. Hopefully Starfield will've seen them knock out most of the engine updates for the next little while, and TES6's development time won't be measured in geologic epochs.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Of course, if they had decided to build a new full engine rather than upgrading the current one, we would probably still be multiple years out from Starfield, to say nothing of future titles. I'm pretty patient by nature, but I'm not sure I'm down for a 20-year gap between Elder Scrolls titles...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

As in actually developed by Bethesda, rather than published? Looks like Fallout 76, with Fallout 4 being their last typical 'Bethesda Game'-style release.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

This is about where I'm at. Hell, I'm of the opinion that all sci-fi games should be shamelessly stealing from No Man's Sky--being able to freely fly around space should be standard. If the next Mass Effect doesn't get accusations of being a NMS rip-off, I'll be gravely disappointed.

    Playstation 5

Spider-Man, Alan Wake, and Dragon's Dogma? I'm pretty happy with this. Phantom Blade and Towers of Aghasba also looked pretty interesting.

    What are you playing?

Currently playing Yakuza/LaD: Ishin. Yakuza's been sitting in that area of "interesting, but not quite enough that I want to buy it" for a while now; turns out, dropping the Yakuza formula into a historical setting is just enough to nudge it into need-to-buy for me. Some of the gameplay is a...

    Playstation 5

Before anyone gets too excited, it's worth pointing out that that guy did slap an asterisk to his tweet explaining that he has no insider info on the State of Play. Those are just games that have been hinted at or rumored, or games that have been announced and we just haven't heard from in a...

Happily, yes. BG3 takes place a century later, but both older Jaheira and petrified-then-unpetrified Minsc are in the party.

    Dungeons & Dragons (2022)

Fun movie. Just the right amount of entertaining dumbassery for a DnD party led by a bard.

    Rajaah's CRPG Blog

I really like Expeditions. Conquistador is perhaps more of a tactics game with RPG elements, while Viking and Rome are tactical RPGs, so the appeal can potentially differ based on you tastes, but happily each game is completely standalone, so you can bounce around to whichever game you want...

    What are you playing?

After having Youtube recommend a video to me out of the blue, I spent a week going deep down a Youtube rabbit hole, then four days reinstalling Skyrim and assembling a sizable mod list (for me at least; I historically trend more towards minimalism in modding), and I'm now a few days into doing...

    Skyrim

Youtube threw up a Skyrim video on my recommendeds that led me deep down a rabbit hole for the last week or so, looking at videos on various mods. I've been planning for a long time to do at least one more Skyrim playthrough before Starfield came out, and I guess that's happening now (or at...

    What are you playing?

Finally doing my first playthrough of Mount and Blade: Bannerlord, well on my way to painting the map as Vlandia. It's weird to find a non-turnbased game that manages to so perfectly hit that "just one more turn" part of the brain as well as this one does.

    Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

To be fair, it's impossible to avoid Camellia spoilers if you pay any attention to her combat barks in game. For all the effort she went to having the 'hide alignment' amulet, the girl was not subtle.

    What did you just read?

Nowadays I essentially just alternate between reading something new and rereading an old book. Currently making my way through second read throughs of both Malazan and Dragonriders of Pern.

Horribly late to the party, but finally getting around to playing Devil May Cry 5. Good ass game, although that hardly needs saying.

    Return to Moria

I don't do a lot of survival games, but dwarves reclaiming a lost hold is the sort of premise I can get behind. I'm looking forward to it.

What game(s) had a final area/boss that ruined the game for you?

Yep, incredibly difficult (and lengthy) boss that comes after an also-lengthy Megaman-style boss rush (no saving in between, naturally). It may literally be the only game that I've ever put down after dying to it and said, "Okay, good enough. I'll just look up the ending on YouTube."

A version of Witcher 1 that doesn't always feel like it's threatening to burst apart at the seams is an interesting prospect. Worth keeping an eye on.

    Black Adam (2021)

I could swear the hawkpeople have like a dozen different origins going on in the comics--reincarnating Egyptians, aliens, regular people with wing tech, fuck, there's probably a birds-turned-into-people origin in there somewhere, etc.

    Black Adam (2021)

Had a bit of a pre-MCU superhero movie vibe to it, albeit with better action. Skateboard Kid in particular had it feeling like something out of the late 90s. Still, watching the Rock fuck shit up was good fun.

    Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

It's going to be at least loosely based on the Rogue Trader tabletop game, which I'm not familiar enough with to really say anything about. Aside from that, it's going to be a dedicated turnbased RPG, rather than the RtwP-with-option-of-turnbased that Pathfinder uses. It sounds like it'll also...

    Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

The Pathfinder games (and I think this is equally true of the tabletop rules as well) are often balanced around the assumption of using builds that involve a lot of dipping, meaning that ideal builds are often going to be shit like Fighter 4/Monk 2/Alchemist 1/War Priest 10, and so on (not an...

    What are you playing?

The big thing with RDR2 is that the game is essentially built around the assumption that the player is going to engage in at least some light RPing while playing it. Camping at night, eating food semi-regularly, walking through town saying 'howdy' to the townspeople, and so on. Whether or not...

    Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

Worth mentioning, both WotR and Kingmaker have major mini games tied into their stories (crusade management in Wrath, and kingdom management in Kingmaker). If you really hate that stuff, you can automate it so that you don't have to deal with it, although you miss out on some content by doing...

    General Gaming News and Discussion

Aside from the fact that I wanted a sandbox pirate adventure (ya know, AC Black Flag, minus the AC) rather than... boat-based team deathmatch, or whatever--when a completely ordinary, fairly by the numbers game takes like ten goddamn years to make, it rarely bodes well.

    General Gaming News and Discussion

Really Ubisoft, just release the game, take the L, and move on. Short of a page-one rewrite, the game's not going to be a success anyways, so just rip that band-aid off.

    General Gaming News and Discussion

Well, from what I've heard, iron-manning around the map was Anthem's one shining point, so they may as well get some mileage out of it. Hopefully they'll also be taking some notes from the Avengers game. For all that game's problems, the gameplay design of the individual characters was quite...
