Who the hell else am I going to root for in hockey? Baltimore's never going to have the market to add a team. I really wish there could be a Baltimore NBA team though, I can't get on board the Wizards thing, doesn't help they they are perennial losers.

Our D can't help but be better. We got gashed wide open repeatedly last year. Some big plays in spots during the playoffs but overall we were terrible. Seems like Ozzie wants it back up to what the standard was, especially in terms of run stopping where we had fallen off a cliff. Our biggest questions now are at the O-line, which I think will get figured out, and slot receiver with the loss of Boldin but hopefully someone can step up there.

In more Chiefs news you'd rather not hear:

The personnel department was working overtime during and after the draft, and signed 25 undrafted free agents. I have no basis of comparison because I'm too lazy to look it up, but that seems like a boatload.

Jerry Jones wants Tony Romo to work like Peyton Manning

"If Tony, for instance, would be here Monday through Saturday . . . from seven in the morning to six o'clock at night all over this place then that's better than the way it's been," Jones said. "We'll have more success, and Jason believes that. It's certainly at quarterback but he believes it at the other positions. Tony is going to have more time, more presence, not only in the offseason but when the season starts, beginning Monday, assuming we played Sundays. He's going to have more time on the job. A part of what we agreed with was extra time on the job, beyond the norm."

I remember the Skipjacks back in the day, but you're right that I don't ever see Baltimore having the market for the NHL. It's not really as much of a basketball town as DC is either, even though the Wizards suck.

You have to be pleased with your first 2 picks though. Basically fill your two biggest holes. It's going to hurt knowing the Skins don't have a 1st rounder next year either. Just goes to show how well the Ravens and Niners have been run to be in the Super Bowl and have the most picks in the draft.

I thought so too when I read that Chargers signed 20 undrafted free agents.

Apparently its not such a big deal since teams enter training camp with almost 100 players and then pare it down to 53.

Speaking of exciting Charger news, sounds like they are extremely confident about their running game. Between Manti Teo and this, its a great time to be a Chargers fan. Maybe they can get Ryan Leaf sprung on a work release program to back up Rivers.

Famm you with the Caps avatar creeps me out. But I guess we can have some Baltimore fans for the Caps. I talked some Ravens fan friends off the ledge based on their draft, your D could be better than it was last year potentially. I liked what the Skins did even with limited picks and no 1st rounder. I think where we got our 2 safety picks was very good value. Would have liked to have drafted a upside project guy for RT, but I heard we signed an undrafted guy that might fit the bill. Shanny had to have his late round RB pick I guess.
It's interesting that almost all of the draft grades have the Redskins as one of the worst (and several had them with the lowest grades). But pretty much across the board, Redskins fans are happy with it. I don't know if maybe it's because we all realize that we had no first round pick, or maybe we just understand the weaknesses that needed to be addressed, but the discrepancy between the two perceptions is strange.

Honestly, the only real weakness the Redskins had was secondary. They went with some high risk guys (mostly based on injuries), but they've done that before and it paid off. I have lots of faith in Smith and Shanahan. The other one was ILB, and they addressed that pretty well.

That's kind of funny, because there was a quote from Shanahan the other day about why the Redskins didn't go and get a bunch of players. He basically said, there's no reason to sign guys just to sign them. You're just bloating the roster with guys who don't have a shot. Maybe the Chiefs feel that they're so devoid of talent in certain positions that they'll just throw a ton of shit at it and hope someone sticks?

Let me sum up for you what is really happening. Romo threw a fit during contract negotiations about Garrett calling the plays and has been since the end of the season. Romo is now going to have a say in the game plan and have more ability to call his own plays (he is better at it than Garrett by a mile imo) and this is how Jerry tries to explain it without having his head coach called out by his QB. Same shit happened with TO and Garrett, turns out Garrett was the problem.

That's a pretty weird attitude. Lots of good players don't get drafted because of drug/alcohol/injury problems and turn out to be gems. 49ers found their starting RG as an UDFA who had alcohol problems.

Jerry is so smart.

So smart that he keeps Garrett on board.

You can find absolute steals in UDFA signings, just ask the Cowboys. They seem better at UDFA than they do the first 7 rounds

Ellerbee was an UDFA and the Dolphins just threw a boatload of money at him.

We picked up 15 and invited two more to camp. Yeah, they will probably get cut and are camp bodies, but I thought everyone did this? You're saying the 'skins don't?

I really don't give a rat's ass what Shanahan thinks or says. No offense.

I just don't understand some of the complaints. It almost feels like most docked our draft because we didn't have a 1st round pick, while claiming in their review that they raised our grade a bit since technically the RG3 trade counts as part of this draft (the 1st round pick that we didn't have). They wanted us to address secondary, and we did that. We didn't panic after a couple of other safeties had been taken in the 2nd and 3rd round, so Shanny got a nice TE who' going to be a match up problem for teams (and as insurance for Fred Davis coming off injury and possible future drug stuff), and still got a couple of upside safeties in the 4th and 6th rounds.

Like I said, only real issue I had that I wanted us to address was finding a project RT in the later rounds who could at least turn into depth down the road. But I'll trust Shanny picking his usual late round running back. We did a pretty great job keeping almost our whole core together given the bullshit cap penalties. I think we're more active in free agency next year, but doing it the smart way, which has been to mainly target guys who are around 26 or 27 years old, have been in the league a couple years but still young, that fit our system.

After watching this video Im convinced this kid is going to be the best RB from this class.

Nobody 240lb should be this agile and have feet like this. Reminds me of a mix between a young Bettis and Barry Foster.

Garrett is a pretty good head coach. Hes a much better motivator than Wade Phillips was if that counts for anything. Garrett does suck at calling plays though. So hopefully he wont have as much influence in that area this year.
