Guess he didn't want to take the tiny contract some team would offer him. I am a little surprised he couldn't get a couple million from someone.
Bears tried to give him 2mil for the year, he took his pride and went looking for more money.

Someone needs to tell these aging linebackers to take the fucking money, if the team you've been with forever doesn't want to pay you a ton it's unlikely someone else will want to throw more at your old ass.

49ers should give Randy a call and try to hold on until Week 12, allegedly when Crabtree could return according to Mike Florio's gossip blog. Dunno who else they could get, Crabtree going down after free agency and the draft kind of has them waiting for table scraps to fall out of training camps around the league.

Fuck Moss. Just need two of the guys on the roster to step up for the #2/3 spots. They've got A.J. Jenkins, Patton, Manningham (won't be ready for a bit), Kyle Williams, Ricardo Lockette on the roster. Hopefully this lights a fire under their asses and they recognize the opportunity they now have. This was a great team even with Alex Smith hardly throwing it to Crabtree. Will still be a great team without him. Would've been awesome to see what he and Kaepernick could do with a full season though.

No matter what changes we will always have the classic rivalry between the Landover Redskins and the Arlington Cowboys!

Future injuries scheduled for this season: Kaeperbro, Boldin, Gore, Davis.

lol Azeth. Hoping and wishing players get injured is kind of hilarious.

Brady is definitely going to get hurt this year, as well as Stevan Ridley. No doubt about it.

Isnt it cool?

All I implied was that Kaeperbro has an inherent run game which has historically led to injury. Also, most RBs will likely sit 1+ games for recovery or worse purposes.

No he doesn't. The read-option is a decoy in the 49ers offense to take one of the guys stacked in the box against Gore out because he is forced to contain Kaep. The only time he keeps the ball is when it is wide open and he rarely takes hits when he does. Kaep doesn't run the ball any more than Aaron Rodgers does (unless of course he is playing against Aaron Rodgers' team, but like I said, when it is wide open...).

Well, gosh, no one will figure that shit out with more snaps and film...

How do you figure it out? It's a split second decision for the QB to hand off or keep the ball. Which means you need someone spying the QB all the time. Film isn't going to give you some magic insight into what the QB is thinking in that exact moment. I don't think it's fair to compare the read option to something gimmicky like the wildcat.

This is a link to a Redskins website, but it's actually analyzing the 49ers/Falcons game.

Does Attacking the QB Really Stop the Read Option?

I love when people label Kap as a runner, and then go a step further and lament injury based on that misguided "fact".

Kaepernick led the NFL in yards per attempt. Crazy I know, but he also finished second overall in total QBR, and finished at or near the top of the league in completion %. Given those facts, think we can say that Kaepernick is somewhat of an accomplished passer, and should be looked at as such. The fact he can get loose and scramble for some yards every now and then just adds to his game, not take away from it as some of you are hinting at.

He played six games. Lets see what happens when he plays a full season.
lolwut. He started 10 games including playoffs and appeared in more.

His numbers held strong, and if not got better during the post-season. Which is kind of unheard of for basically a rookie dude (Russel Wilson was awesome also). I mean, your point stands, he does need a whole season under his belt to better evaluate him going forward.

But remember he is in a contract year. A weird position to be in in your first REAL season as the man/starter. Its a position I think he likes being in, as if he puts up stupid numbers he is going to demand a stupid contract.

Technically Kaep didn't qualify for most of the lists since he didn't play the whole season. For those who did qualify, RG3 led the league in yards per attempt (the only guy over 8 YPA that qualified actually). Although Kaep's number was higher, have to wonder if it would hold up over a full season. Not having Crabtree for at least part of the season will hurt.

There wasn't really anything to "figure out." All the DC's knew what was going on. And a good defensive line can shut down read/option on both fronts. Baltimore was doing a pretty good job of it in the Superbowl until Ngata went down. I'm sure some defensive coordinator is going to come up with a creative way to defend it this offseason.

Point wasn't about the intricacies of the read/option. Point was that Kaepernick isn't any more of a running QB than your average athletic QB. Games like the GB game have given the false perception that Kaep is a running QB which just isn't the case (unless of course the defense is giving 70 yards of nothing but green grass in front of him). Saying he is more susceptible to injury because the Niners run the read/option is a fallacy.

Also, all of this is true of Russell Wilson as well.
