Fuck that. Dallas needs elite players, not a late first and extra second that they can both whiff on.
Dallas needs depth. Elite players are nice but I'll take guys who earn their paychecks every day of the week and four times on gameday. There's a huge black hole in drafted players still with the Cowboys from 2007-2009 that isn't going away anytime soon and until it gets filled up, they won't amount to much.

Ya Dallas could really use a back up Guard right about now. Our starters are so good we can draft for rotation and back up players.

How is this fan base so fucking stupid?

Whose needs O-line bro? Romo doesn't need one have you seen him scramble???

Kidding aside, I don't think 6 OL have ever gone in the top 17 - too many bad GMs that don't prioritize their lines always stop that from happening. One of those guys will be there for the Cowboys if Jerry isn't dumb enough to pass. If not, take Vaccaro.

Moon is still right. Cowboys need elite players AND depth - it's mostly depth at the non skill positions that have doomed them recently late in the year when the backups of injured players are having to play significant minutes (most obvious on defense the last 2 years). The entire middle/right side of the O-line is what happens when you have no depth or developed players - backups get forced to start for long periods of time.

I agree Dallas really needs depth but Moon is advocating gaining depth by sacrificing increased odds at elite difference makers. Dallas isn't good enough to do that, really nobody is. Would you give up Dez for an average NFL starter plus a 3rd down rush specialist? Of course you wouldnt and that is what he is advocating. Part of the depth issue is salary cap hell but the Cowboys are never getting out of that.

Before I forget, LOL at Famm suggesting Dez hasn't lived up to his draft spot. He is a top 5 WR in the league. There wasn't a better WR over the last 10 games last year. And that was with a fucked up hand.

Dallas is actually really good when they trade up for a player. It is when they trade back that they end up with a draft full of trash.

And Genji, go watch the film.

If you think that there isn't two starting OL in this draft left at #31 and #34 that would start on the Cowboys line you should just stfu.

What statistical categories has Dez been top five in consistently? Maybe I'm wrong, but that just doesn't sound correct to me.

Last 8? games of the year after he was made the focus of the offense (after he started to run routes correctly the majority of the time), he blew every WR out of the water in every stat except yards (only Megatron out gained him). He had at least 1 TD in every game.

He started the year as the #2 WR, the 3rd year is usually when WR break out and it was true for Dez also. He always had the physical talent of a top5 WR but it looks like he finally figured out the mental part. Now he just has to stay out of trouble off the field.

I don't get that whole "last 8 games" thing. Look at his whole year and he seems like he was actually really consistent the entire year. He had 5 games over 100 yards, 2 in the first half, 3 in the second half. His stats are also skewed by the fucking terrible Saints secondary where he put up 224 yards and 2 TD's.

I see no reason to cherry pick which games when you're looking at a player.

Dez is who he he's always been. A freakishly physically gifted player who lacks the discipline to be elite. He's good. Damn good. But unless something just happens to click this offseason, he's not going to suddenly go for 2000 yards like he wants.

He's just going to be the stunt double for the on field stuff, articles keep making it sound like he's the actor playing Johnny U. That Unitas kid saying it should be Manning is full retard though. Unitas hated the fact that the team and his records were moved to Indy and supported the Ravens to his grave. Slow news cycle.

First half of the season he was running bad routes and led to at least 2 INTs when he broke the way Romo wasn't expecting, most famously vs the Bears. Most of his stats are coming in the first half of games as well and he disappeared when it mattered.

Total 180 the last 7 games - him and Romo won about 4 games almost by themselves with 4th Q comebacks. He also had way more TDs in the second half of the year.

It's not really cherry picking - moreso you hope going forward into next year he picks up right where he left off. His first 2.5 seasons he just wasn't trustworthy to make the right play mentally.

Dropped passes?
The season before he had the least amount of dropped passes on catchable balls in the league. It will average out.

So if his first eight games are great this year and the last eight suck, he effectively has had one full elite season! Not cherry picking at all. Also, best fourth quarter WR in the league!

We could just make it easy and say when Dez is playing well and engaged, he has the potential to be a top 5 WR in the league.

Which brings me back to, yeah he's been a pretty good draft pick even though he hasn't quite lived up to his selection.

He's more than lived up to his selection. I can literally think of MAYBE 6 receivers I'd take over Dez today, and Dez is younger than every one of them. Problem is, Dallas has a void at receiver and I'm afraid it will affect Bryant going forward (having dogshit help). I'm ready to see the back of Smiles.

*Puts on Jerry Jones thinking cap*

Dallas needs Ocho-Cinco.
