This is Cutler's last year. I'll bet he'll bust out for 4500 yards, 30 TDs and do well enough to get himself a ~$40M contract.

I won't disagree at all. It's well within his capabilities. Winning the Big Game isn't.
Well Cutler is still better than half the quarterbacks in NFL right now, just look at your Blaine Gabberts, EJ Manuels, Jake Lockers, Christian Ponders, Ryan Tannehills, Geno SMiths, Terrelle Pryors, Alex Smiths, Brandon Weedens, etc.

So unless the Bears tank to 1-15 and then try to fish in the draft for a QB, they'll be mostly out of luck unless they find a gem like Russell Wilson and maybe thats something they should do. But there are no free agency options at that position and he isn't a bad solution. If This team could carry Rex Grossman to the superbowl, it can do that with Cutler and Cutler gives them a much better chance to win than Grossman did.

This is also the best Bears passing offense I ever seen since I started watching them when I came into this country in early 1990s. Having read about the previous Bears years, that would basically make it the best passing offense since Sid Luckman and black and white television.

Soooo... its a pretty exciting time to be a Bears fan. I think they are a legitimate contender for SB. No homer.

Bro, I wanna believe the Bears do well. Walter Peyton, Singletary, Butkus, even the Fridge I loved to watch play. I still couldn't stand Jim McMahon though, what a tool.

Anyway, I just don't have any confidence in Cutler. I saw him on a regular basis when he was a Bronco, and I just never could get on board with the guy.

I think it's unfair for Araysarbro to put EJ Manuel and Geno Smith on that list. They've had one game each. Both of them acquitted themselves quite well in their respective games. However, it's a small sample size. You might want to give them a little more than 60 minutes to make a determination on where they fall into the pecking order.

Not to mention any discussion of QBs has to take into account what they have around them. The Jets receiving corps and tight ends wouldnt start for any other team in the NFL, even Jacksonville. Holmes is done, Winslow has bounced around everywhere...they are just horrible. Geno being drafted there worried me more about the people around him than even Rex. Oh yea they also dont have a decent running back on the entire team. I dont know how anyone can win on that team unless their defense plays to an unreal level and leads the league in turnovers or something.

Did I miss something? Why does Alex Smith deserve to be on that list? No way Cutler was better than last year's Alex Smith so I must have missed something other than the team change.

Though it is an Araysar list, I just figured that someone would have called him on it asap.

C'mon,

Jay Cutler's worst season is still better than Alex Smith's best season. I'm not even exaggerating. Go look at the stats.

Alex Smith isn't bad. He's not good either. His passer rating least year is a little misleading.

He had high comp % and good td/int ratio, but his ypa were terrible. He can't move the ball reliably and if you get down by a couple scores you're screwed

And as much as I can't stand him, Cutler isn't a bad qb either

Just stop. For once we could have an actual football discussion without regurgitating the same old four troll QB conversations.

Pryor looks like he has a ton of potential, but he is just very raw. Apparently when he came into the league no one had taught him some basics - like how to throw a ball. He's improving quickly.

It's the inconsistency across the board that kills me more than anything. The replacements proved to us that not everyone can do the job, but if you're going to do it at least try to make sure it's consistent from game to game. The NFL isn't doing enough to make sure everyone is on the same page, and nothing is ever done for the colossal fuckups to try to hammer down that point.
Speaking of inconsistency and replacement officials(rant incoming), let me just add I'm still pissed about the saints week 3? or 4? loss to the kc chiefs last year. The saints had two touchdowns reversed in that game. I just saw a replay from the texans/chargers game monday night where a guy dove for the end zone and the ball hit the pylon before going out of bounds, the play was ruled not a touchdown, challenged, and correctly ruled a touchdown. One of the touchdowns that wasreversedlast year was a play that looked just like that. Except it was correctly ruled a touchdown, the replay clearly showed the ball hitting the pylon before the player went out of bounds, yet they overturned the touchdown and placed the ball on the 1/2 yard line. The officials, replacement officials, most assuredly cost the saints that game last year, but people didn't grab their pitchforks until it cost gb a game a week later. There is a world of difference between starting 1-3 and starting 0-4 where you just blew a 20 point lead in the last game, and it was because the two touchdowns were reversed when they should not have been(the one hitting the pylon that clearly shouldn't have been overturned and the other one was a judgement call because there was no clear evidence in those circumstances you stay with the call on the field). It really took the wind out of the saints sails and gave me no hope without sean payton. The saints, despite no head coach and the worst defense in nfl history, was still in the playoff picture week 16, and had the officials not cost them the game against the kcc would have put the saints in control of their own destiny and they would have been in if they won week 17.

Ok, rant over.

Saints wouldn't have done anything in the playoffs anyway. And everyone pointed to the GB-SEA game because it was MNF. Everyone was watching it.

It was a big enough play/mistake that it didn't need to be on MNF to have an effect, but MNF sure as fuck did help it.

As a Wisconsinite:
1) I am LOLing over here that Cutler is about to get tens of millions in guaranteed money because this year the NFC North gets the 2013 versions of the AFC North and NFC East. You know what Chicago, overpay all those veterans on your roster this year, and then I won't have to worry about the 2015-2017 seasons, because your salary will be so top heavy you can't compete.
2) Given equal supporting casts, Cutler is a top ten QB, albeit at the lower end. This year. At age 30 already, he's literally middle of the pack in a year or two.

Pats v Jets esta noche.

Brady's down to Dobsen, Boyce, Thompkins, Edelman, Ridley and O-o-ma-now-wa-new-ee for weapons.

Thinking Pats 24, Jets 3
