The new regime made up for a horrible pick, nothing wrong with that. The Colts are idiots, mortgaging the future for a RB when they have a shitty offensive line and probably won't be making the playoffs this year.

This is the same Colts team that drafted Donald Brown with a 1st too, keep it in mind. Richardson isnt AP, and is a good trade for the Browns. Unless youre getting an AP clone with a top 5 pick used on a RB you lose.

Trent isn't AP but only AP is AP. Fact is Browns had no air game so the box was stacked against an injured Trent. So his ypc was pretty bad. But watching the guy run you can tell he deserves a late 1st/early 2nd pick. As long as he stays healthy that is.

The Colts OL is far worse than the one in Cleveland.

He was averaging 3.5 ypc, so who knows, it could end up being good for both franchises. I still think unless you are getting a HoF rb, you dont do it in a passing NFL with a high 1st...ever.

You're looking at it in a vacuum. Colts have a worse OL but a far superior passing game and a mobile QB. So you'll have the mlb spying on Luck and the safety position more concerned with zoning out WR off the snap instead of running into run support. Not to mention olb actually respecting slots. I think this will work out great for Indy. If I was gm I'd take this trade all day every day.

Trent also has decent hands. Not sure on his blocking.

Which is why I said it could end up being good for both franchises. If the Browns use the pick to get a guy like Bridgewater who ends up being a good NFL QB, then it will have been worth it. We wont know until the draft, but it clearly wasnt working for the Browns either.

I guess but at what point do you stop the cycle of rebuilding? Only if you have 'your guy' behind center? I mean I feel bad for Browns fans because this is just an endless circle. Even the greatest QB surrounded by nothing won't work out. Every year browns take non-skill position after trading down and it isn't working. They may have a good line but that isn't winning games in the modern NFL.

You need a franchise QB unless you are surrounded by a truly dominant defense which with todays rules, is already behind the 8 ball. I agree with your statement about endless rebuilding. The Browns show what you get with a bad scouting department when you see RBs and WRs for other teams continually found as gems in later rounds when guys drafted in high rounds for the Browns never pan out. I still think that today you need a franchise QB more than ever, I mean shit look at the Vikings. With a guy who could arguably be the best ever RB they still cant do shit with it.

I think the only reason you're seeing roughly 50/50 agree and disagree on this is because it's a running back. If this were a #3 overall tight end that was performing up to the pick? Shit.

It's just not a running league right now. Like New England letting their 32 year old WR go will go down as being a far worse a decision than this will ever be...regardless of Richardson's age or what pick he was.

Richardson wasn't even performing up to his pick. He only had 950 rushing yards last year. Giving up a 1st round draft pick for any rb other than AP is insane. Especially when you can find good running backs in the third and later rounds.

I really don't see a great upside for either team with this trade. I've been wrong before, though.

All the reports prior to the season were that Pep Hamilton relied heavily on the run game. I'm not surprised that they looked at their injured squad and decided they needed someone, now. Especially since a wildcard seems far more realistic now than we thought a couple weeks ago.

(Come on, Green Bay has Johnathan Franklin sitting around! He's never going to see the field with us, throw some picks this way!)

Edit: Of course, the price Indy paid for him is preposterous. I am actually impressed that Lombardi has thrown in the towel so quickly and picked up a first rounder in the deal.

Man, while the Bucs are pretty awful overall, I'm sure glad they drafted Martin instead of trying to move up to get Richardson. Way better value and a better player, imo

Maybe Cleveland is just tanking for the top pick next year and to add another pick to help them get it. At this point, nothing they do would surprise me. You have to also remember the Browns are taking a 7million cap hit for TR next year on top of having traded Minnesota their 4th 5th and 7th to move up to get him in the first place.

Browns fans are saying this is a great trade and how amazing two first round picks will be. Last time they had two firsts they traded up for Richardson and got Weeden, who apparently they are not happy with keeping either. The circle of failure in Cleveland is fun to watch go round and round.

Regardless of how the picks end up working out, I think its safe for the Steelers to at least never be the worst team in the division as long as that circus of a franchise is around.
