I think it's all relative to the overall situation. Sometimes people forget that Belichick coached the Browns for a couple of years and they weren't a good team before him and they weren't a good team with him. Sometimes coaches can turn around a mediocre situation, see San Francisco, but shit is shit and it can take a long time to dig out of being shit. At that point it usually goes past coaching.

And sometimes, sometimes coaching just makes you worse. I'm looking at you Monte Kiffin.

Can't put it all on Kiffin, unless you blame him for Jason/Jerry not taking more defensive linemen in the draft. They couldn't imagine the amount of players they would lose.

After the draft they lost Ratliff, Spencer, Tyrone Crawford, Ben Bass, and maybe someone else I'm missing from the D-Line, for the entire season (in Ratliff's case he was lying so he would get released) - and Ware missing another 3 games. I think the count is up to 18 different linemen they have used so far this year - it's really hard to be successful when Jason Hatcher is the only constant.

This season more than anything has proven that pass rush makes the secondary look good, not the other way around. Last year with Rob Ryan at least the pass rush was mostly there for the season, and the injured were in the linebacker/secondary.

That said, Kiffin hasn't really made adjustments. At this point they should just be bringing 5 or 6 rushers every down and just try get sacks or create turnovers. If you give up a 50 yard touchdown, oh well, at least it gets the ball back to Romo faster instead of dragging the eventual TD drive out to 5 or 6 minutes and giving Romo less and less opportunity.

Pass rush doesn't get a chance to be successful when guys are standing all by themselves without a single Dallas defender within 5 yards of them. At least two of the touchdowns they gave up were like that. The supposed benefit of this scheme Kiffin is running, and the one talked about directly in relation to the number of defensive players they lost last year, is that it's simpler and therefor easier for when the next guy has to step up. Granted, they're well past where they were last year in terms of guys coming off the couch, but all that tells me is that this supposed benefit is bullshit.

Sean Lee says it's not scheme but I have to disagree. They had their three best players on the field last night and were torn apart by Josh-Fucking-McCown.

Were the 3 best players even healthy though? Ware certainly didn't look like it. Not that I have any love lost for Kiffin, his USC defense was the stuff of legends...

Yeah Ware says he's healthy but I don't believe it - he plays through injury if given the chance. Either that or he's lost a step in just a year's time, which is definitely possible at his age.

Hatcher is also playing semi-injured (right arm/stinger issues), and Sean Lee got re-injured in the beginning of the 3rd. The front 7 is trash and injured guys.

Just let Romo call the plays and start taking chances - he has been super conservative for him this year but they can't afford that anymore. It may further push the December woes/choke narrative but who cares at this point since it's all baloney anyways.

Dallas is on track for, what, the worst defense ever in terms of yardage allowed? I don't see how anyone can blame Romo and keep a straight face when there is a defense down there that is so bad/injured it's headed for the history books. In fact, with such a boat anchor around his neck Romo would have to be be running away with the MVP if Dallas had 10+ wins right now.

Actually, ESPN has been keeping track of the worst ever thing. They're currently behind where the Saints were last year, but it's close. I do believe they're going to go down as the worst passing defense in history though.

You guys should check out the DP Show game "Know your Romo" where they play audio from his various post-game excuse sessions and try to decide if they are old or new.

Here's an example.

Unrelated to the football sadness that is Dallas Cowboys football, here's some awesome football. HARDCORE PARKOUR!

Can't imagine they're playing Cousins for any reason other than to try to showcase him for an off-season trade.

Was just looking at Bucs-49ers matchup this Sunday. Combined the 2 teams average 359.1 passing yards per game. Peyton Manning is averaging 341.2 passing yards per game.

I think that this would have to be it. Hope to show in the last 3 games that he is a good QB, and hopefully get a draft pick out of him from somewhere.

I realize that RG3 has an in with the owner.. but they should be trying to deal the dumpster fire that is RG3 and just go with Cousins as the starter
