Sounds like waaaaah to me.
Seriously, what a shitty article. "League insiders" say Seattle plans on doing more PI against the Saints than above ever has? That's retarded on so many levels. I don't even like Seattle, but this guy is complaining about the no calls in a game that hasn't even happened.

The fact that Pereira is quoted in the article a couple times gives it merit. He's not one to spout random bullshit. He's a big advocate of the NFL rules.

Read his quotes though by themselves. He's just saying teams like Seattle play physical and establish the tone early. Doesn't make any of the claims that the Seahawks are the dirtiest team ever. Just a generic quote about physical teams. Doesn't even look like his quotes were to the author. Just crap the author found to try and make his terrible case

It's not Seattle's fault if the officials are incompetent. PI is a spot foul - if the officials want to stop a lot of contact in the secondary it will absolutely stop once a few huge yardage PI penalties are enforced.

After watching the 2013 season in particular it's a safe bet that the officials on any given gameday crew are indeed incompetent. So I'm not sure what the Seahawks should do, back off on WRs and do the refs jobs for them?

The last time the 49ers played them Harbaugh bitched to the media about it and they did seem to get more calls in that game. Based on what we saw in the 9ers-Packers game last weekend though, they're not looking to throw a lot of flags. It's kind of understandable, nobody really likes to see a lot of PI calls, but you can't just let the defense manhandle the receivers and not allow them to play.

If they're still not throwing many flags this weekend it's a pretty big advantage for Seattle vs. a team like the Saints. If a lot of people start raising a stink about it the officials will probably crack down, but I don't know if it will happen this season.

As long as the calls are consistent then it doesn't bother me. When you have the games where a receiver keeps getting mugged while the other team gets called for every minor incidental contact it ruins the game. Having said that, if what the article was saying was true then why wouldn't every team just to that? The author is acting like this is a real strategy but no other team can do it for some reason. The terrible logic in the entire article is off. He's saying refs will only throw 1 PI flag per game. I've seen plenty of games that had 3 or more called. And like Robert said, throw a few flags and it'll stop real fast.

I really hate that I have to keep defending the Seahawks, so I'm just going to say Russell Wilson is up there with Luck as the most overrated QBs I the NFL

I heard if you say "Katrina Katrina Katrina" in a dark bathroom it will summon the ghost of Cathan.
False. Just tried it to no avail. I has a sad.

About PI in the playoffs, refs are notorious for swallowing their whistles in the playoffs. It is why the spread up tempo offenses start struggling.

Sherman is awesome but they lost because their offense was flat. Same as the other two losses.

And yet the Ravens seemed to skip through last year's playoffs by lobbing up turds and getting PI calls. Are all these non-calls just blowback from that? It's been a strategy for a long time - toss a ball JUST over the head of a covered receiver down field, watch the flag fly and get a free 50 yards. Maybe they just got sick of that shit.

Most likely it just depends on the bias of the refs. Do they hate nimbly-bimbly football and prefer old-timey 10-7 grindfests? Or are they cool with 100 point shootouts? It's all in their hands.

Or maybe the refs just really want the popular team to win so three blown holdling calls on a single fourth down play is totally cool.

I've changed my mind:
I don't trust the Panthers with a gimpy/no Steve Smith over the 49ers.
I still don't trust the Colts without TY Hilton over the Patriots.
I still don't trust the Saints to have a better run game than the Seahawks.
I still don't trust the Chargers to overpower a fired up Broncos team. Next week, sure, this week, no.

I don't trust the Chargers to win this but we have the ability.

You....I mean we....beat them at home once already this year! Any given Sunday! Remember no one was giving us....I mean Baltimore.....a chance going into top seeded Denver this round last year and look what happened!

I know, I just don't trust them to meet my expectations. The Chargers always make me earn my fan status. They never just give me an easy win to be excited about. Everything is harder than it should be for no apparent reason.

Chargers are like old school EQ players that want things to be harder just because.
