Make no mistake, the Superbowl is being played this Sunday in Seattle. Anything after that is a formality.
People think SF vs Seattle is bigger than Peyton v Brady in possibly (very, very not likely) their last seasons?

Edit: General Manning got me hot and bothered

Manning's playing at least one more season no matter what, Brady at least two. Last chance for them to meet in the championship round, or maybe even the playoffs at all, very likely.

We can hope they both suffer career ending injuries next weekend.

That's probably shitty Karma for me....

I'm about 90% sure Peyton's been playing through pain all this season. Think if the doc's tell him it could go away if he retires he will, if they tell him it's permanent motherfucker is gonna get him some rings.

Manning's depends on the exam this spring. If there has been any deterioration in his neck I bet he retires.

I think Rivers needs to announce his retirement and just leave. He isn't the problem but I cannot imagine his frustration at not being able to get to the big game with the team he has holding him back.

He has money, just keep pumping kids out and maybe get a commentating spot because he would probably be a lot of fun on TV every week.

Edit: Manning, not Rivers. Fuck Rivers in his stupid face.

I think he'd be dumb not to. He's got the cash to walk away. Those injuries will start to really nag him in 10 years.

I honestly thought after the neck injury he'd walk away. I guess the competitive drive in these types of guys is really high.

Well, was not my intent to start another Kaepernick shitfest...but that game was *last* season, wasn't it? Most recent example - he was basically playing game manager today while the SF defense got to Newton. I'm not saying it's Trent Dilfer football yet, but let's not pretend he's likely to match Brady for offensive production in a hypothetical Super Bowl meeting.
Not only that, but it wasn't even the blowout he's making it seem. Pats put up 28 points in about 40 seconds and lost at the very end. Either way, Brady vs Manning will be a bigger story for the majority of America than SF vs SEA.

Both SEA and SF had a really easy schedule outside of each other. They're not the unstoppable juggernauts people want to believe

SF vs NE last year was a first half turnover mess like the NE vs DEN game this year. Brady made his usual come back attempt, scoring like 21? unanswered points in a quarter, it just wasn't enough. I'd def like to see a rematch because it was a very frustrating game.

I think NE is looking really good right now vs any team. I think they can control the clock and keep Manning off the field basically doing what SD did when they beat DEN, and they can run the ball and rely on a short pass game to outscore either SF or SEA. Add in a few clutch Brady drives, and I'm feeling rather optimistic, especially compared to how we looked for the first half of the season. Obviously it will come down to how the defense performs. They looked good enough yesterday, but the Colts aren't exactly a well rounded offense.

I think you guys are misconstruing what I said. I didn't say that SF/SEA was going to be the bigger news story, no way that gets more play than Manning vs Brady. My implication was that the winner of the NFC Championship game will be the Superbowl winner.

Also, only reason Kaep has "mediocre" stats (go ahead and compare them to Brady's this year) is because the 49ers game plan is to score an opening drive field goal then to sit on their 3-0 lead and then to try to run out the clock. That is why most Niner fans won't be crying many tears if Roman gets a head coaching job at the end of the season. Unfortunately we'll probably be stuck with him thanks to another deep playoff run (woe is us, I know).

I feel bad for Carolina but Rivera is an overrated coach. He decided to use the ol' methodical, lets get everything right at the line and waste 40 seconds off the clock offense with 4 minutes to go down 13. Dude is seriously retarded a lot of times im amazed this team was so good with that one grind you down offensive approach. Without Newton that team is 9-7 at best IMO and thats at BEST.

I think the Niners win 10 games easily without Keapernick.

Good championship game matchups but holy shit the niners need a small miracle to pull out a win in seattle in the playoffs with everything on the line. That 12th man bullshit is going to be the loudest its ever been.

Its rare that the preseason favorites to be in these 2 games actually make it there, so there is no possible way the games can ever live up to the hype they'll get with Brady vs Manning VIII or the douchebag bowl with Carroll's PEDhawks vs Harbaugh.

Carroll's PEDhawks
I had been going with the SeaTalks lately but with the amount of chest thumping and head butting Boldin has been doing lately that would hypocritical of me. I put the over/under on unsportsman-like conduct penalties in the NFC Championship at 4.5. I'm going to bet the over, with the 5th one being against the Seattle allowing the Niners to get into field goal range to kick a game winning field goal and allowing the Seattle fans to bitch about the refs screwing them over for another 10 years.
