Is Vernon Davis a Hall of Famer? Like not as of riht now obviously, but say he has like 3-4 more seasons at his current production level? He has caught quite a few TD passes the only thing he doesnt really have is the high volume of catches. When he retires I think hell have just as good a chance to get in as Gore. (im pretty sure he is now tied for the lead in TD catches by a TE all time in the postseason)

And Im not talking shit, but there were quite a few people here that said he would get brutally injured and not finish the season for no other reason besides hate. I said he probably wouldnt because he plays very smart and has the best o-line in football, but hey.

Im more worried/dreading Richard Sherman during the lead-up to the Super Bowl than I am the Niners actually losing the game. Fuck that guy he is such a pussy. He talks mad shit when they are winning by 30 but when his team gets beat that little Wakandanrdly faggot is at a loss for words.

I think if Davis keeps up his current level of play for 3-4 more years he's a hall of famer. He's pretty unique at the tight end position. As much as I think Gore deserves it, I doubt that he will be a first ballot guy just because he's never been a flashy player that gets a lot of press. Just a dude that quietly gets it done year after year.

Frank Gore has been one of the most consistent RBs I've ever witnessed in my lifetime. When you think about any other RBs in recent years, there's no doubt he's a Hall of Famer - unless you have to be Adrian Peterson level to be considered. With the exception of his rookie season and another season when he only had 203 carries, the dude has had 1,000+ yard seasons every year. That's seven 1,000+ yard seasons. Who else in the modern era has done that? He's also never been below 4 yards per attempt in any season. HoF.

If they were favored it shoudlnt have been by much, and it was probably due to SF's high seeding (and being at home) and the Giants being a wildcard team
Uh yeah, that may have had something to do with it. The Giants made the playoffs at 9-7 while the 49ers were 13-3. You should have told the oddsmakers that the Giants were going to win it all that year so they could have factored that in.

We'll probably see a lot less RBs getting into the hall of fame in the future. I can't think of any running backs currently playing that I'm sure will get in. They're just so expendable and seem to have a 2 year window in being considered great. Even AP might not get in if he can't stay healthy. That's really a shame for people like Gore who never put a 2000 yard season, but has been pretty damn consistent and the most important offensive player on the 49ers since he's been there.

If we're putting Gore in the Hall are we also throwing Stephen Jackson in? What other non-great NFL players can we add?

The NFL HOF isn't about stats, though. Gore is a tough question. He's been a workhorse. He does remind me of Emmit Smith. Definitely a tough question whether he should be in or not.

The only current NFL RB I'd put in the HOF definitely though is Adrian Peterson. I think Steven Jackson would be next on my list, but he's iffy like Gore.

Vernon Davis is a beast, but he's no Antonio Gates. Not to mention this is the age of passing in the NFL so should we consider TEs more like WRs?

Davis definitely needs quite a few more years of high production to be listed in the all time greats. He's off to a good start though.

I love Frank Gore, but he wouldn't be a HoFer without some more years of very good play on his resume'. Right now he would go into the 'Hall of Very Good' along with the likes of Corey Dillon, Tiki Barber, Fred Taylor, Warrick Dunn, Eddie George, Stephen Jackson etc etc. But 3 more years of ~1000 yards/season and another 20-25 TDs on his resume' and it would be hard to say no I think. That would put him close to top 10 all time in rushing yards and give him a respectable number of TDs...the 2 stats that matter most for HoF voting for RBs I think. HoF certainly isn't all about stats, there are a number of things to consider, but stats are definitely pertinent.

But 3 more years of high level play for him with all of the workload he has carried in his career? I can't see it unless he does it entirely with San Francisco (who has Kendall Hunter and Marcus Lattimore potentially waiting in the wings) and SF keeps what most people consider its best-in-the-league offensive line intact. Gore makes very few long runs these days where he isn't getting amazing blocking and going mostly untouched.

No love for Lynch at RB?
For a 3 year stretch in the middle of his career he had a combined total of 1187 yards.

All of these RB's (outside of AP) are going to run into issues getting in just based on the HoF voting format. They probably stack up against other RB's, but with there only being 5 guys elected in each year I think they'll have difficulties making the final cut.

Gore has roughly 10,000 rushing yards with 70 touchdowns, and 7 1,000 yard seasons. He has more rushing yards than Hall of Famer Joe Perry, and Perry played 14 years.

If the Niners somehow win the Super Bowl this year and Gore has anything to do with it he is def a HOFer. Maybe not FIRST ballot but I mean, the guy is everything you want in a running back, from a "football guy" standpoint (clock control running style, between the tackles, tough, durable, GREAT blocker etc) and another very important factor he has going for him is he is a stand up guy. Yeah he might be a half-wit, but he has never talked shit about his team, never been in any off the field controversies, and is a stand up guy with the media. Thats going to bode well for him 5 years after he retires.

edit: and lol at everyone comparing every RB to Adrian Peterson. AP is not normal.

If Frank Gore isn't a HoF candidate, then I too think RBs are done unless you're Purple Jesus-like. Only other RB in the past 15 years I can think of with production comparable or better than Gore are Corey Dillon, LaDainian Tomlinson (162 TDs!) and Steven Jackson.

lol if you think im being a homer recommending Gore for HOF then you are an idiot.

Tomlinson and AP are rare talents who come along very rarely. Gore is not the athlete Peterson is and isnt the pass catcher and big play guy Tomlinson was, but he is right under them in terms of respectability, if not production.

And lol holy shit at Tomlinsons numbers. What a great situation he had in San Diego. It was rough at the end when he was sulking on the bench with that black visor and raincoat, dealing with injuries, but the first 5-6 years of his career were spectacular. I remember him as a rookie and how people couldnt pronounce his name right, and by the middle of his sophomore campaign he was a household name.

I don't know about LT ever being a household name.

A big problem Gore has, is that even though he's the 49ers most consistent weapon, he's never put up crazy numbers and they've always been a poor offense. You really need those things as a running back
