I'll never forget that game. If I live to be 100 the words "40 - 12" will still make me shake my head in disbelief. They almost closed the gap but Roy wasn't and never will be Dean when it comes to coaching a comeback. That loss put the fire in their bellies the next year, fortunately.

I was going through my Mom's yearbooks from Topeka HS, and Dean Smith was in the grade ahead of her. It shows him at Guard. I just thought that was kind of neat.

I know this is for the NCAA tournament, but holy fuck Murray State cannot catch a break. They lose the OVC Championship to a bunch of bullshit 3's from 5-10 feet behind the arc, and now they're bumped out of the NIT to a bullshit toss up.

Delayed payments are still against ncaa rules. Otherwise you could promise $100k to a player after they are no longer in school to play for your team

Obviously none of the players expected to get a $200 check when he died 30 years later, but the ncaa is full of functional retards

This game looks like my YMCA league team that is all white and 90% of the players are over 40 going up against a bunch of 18 year old black kids from the city.

The refs took WVU out of it's game and they couldn't compete with what Kentucky offered with any other game plan. Looking at the small guys against the giants of Kentucky, you could see it wouldn't be a very good game if WVU couldn't hit lots of 3s. And they aren't a very good shooting team at all. Just a huge mismatch in any situation.

That Notre Dame team will really challenge Kentucky though. Those guys can shoot.
