Only two QBs have ever beaten Tom Brady in the Super Bowl and he did it twice. I agree that he's an eventual shoe-in but he was never gonna be a first ballot.
Vinatieri on the other hand, how on earth was he not an easy first ballot induction?

What stats are deficient? He's #11 all time in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. Very few non-HOF players ahead of him in either category and plenty of HoF players below him. Couple that with 2 super bowls and I don't really see the case for not putting him in.

Eli threw for a ton of interceptions. For the era he played in his TD to interception ratio is pretty terrible. He's number 11 all time for interceptions thrown. He also was above average in fumbles, too.
I also don't think there were many, if any, seasons where he was a consensus top 3-5 quarterback. Maybe 2015.

Everything that DickTrickle said above. Sure, he put up a lot of yards over a long career. But if he didn't ride that defense and some amazing luck to 2 SB wins, I think it would be even longer before he gets in. I just don't think a QB who throws for a lot of yards, but also comes with a ton of poor stats is an auto shoe in.
