Mens 1500m was funny.
British and Norwegian athletes are the favourites but have a feud, so the Norwegian guy goes out of his way to block the British guy from overtaking him when they have the Gild/Silver positions...
...allowing two Americans to run around the other side of him to take Gold and Bronze. British guy stays in Silver. Norwegian goes from 1st to 4th in seconds.
I got the feeling the British guy was happier to get Silver and his rival nothing, than get Gold with the rival Silver that would have happened if the Norwegian ran properly.

I don’t care about or watch the Olympics but this headline popped up in my news feed. I was all ready to enjoy a good story about some American negro embarrassing himself and his country with monkeyshines. After clicking the link, my disappointment was immeasurable.

Saw sport climbing so I checked it out. Bouldering and Leads. Apparently 2 events that they combined. Wife and I watched the women's qualifying bouldering event. We had no idea what was going on, announcers weren't doing a good job of explaining it. The first woman up was just kinda looking at the holds, testing them out but going nowhere. We figured this was an inspection phase and she hadn't started yet. But nope. That was her attempt. She looked ridiculous. Like if Carol Burnett did a skit on bouldering. We later learned that they have the competitors go in reverse order of ranking, so she was literally the worst one there. There are 4 walls to climb in bouldering and I laughed at all 4 of her attempts. Not only did she not score a point, she often had trouble even getting into the starting position.
Good, solid entertainment. Apparently there's not a lot of big rocks in south africa.

No mention of vaccines in that article so I'm reserving judgement. If he is a pure blood and he hugged a bunch of triple jabbed sheep, they will probably die and he deserves their medals.

I do a lot of rock climbing. Have been a judge in youth climbing competitions. Saw a qualifying event in person for the 2020 Olympics. It is a lot of fun to watch for sure. But basically they need to set really hard climbs so that they can separate out the really good climbers to determine a winner. If they make it too easy all the top climbers will finish it with similar scores. They make it very hard so the top climbers can differentiate from each other of who can finish them. So that scrub South African girl wasnt even good enough to climb the routes set for the olympics, because she came from the weakest region Africa for qualification.

I would rather it be shown in full rather than as an afterthought once all the different running combinations are done.
The kayaking where they were allowed to shove each other was similar, more of that, less swimming please.
China/Korea/Japan dropping down the medal table as they can't do Athletics lmao.

Maybe this is "old man yells at cloud" territory here.. but having watched a couple of them all I see is that if this was ever going to be an Olympic sport it should have been back in the 90's as apparently the state of this art has seemed to decline precipitously.

I love the Breaking. It's such a different spice of life. Judges vote, and it's over. No stupid .1, .2, .3. It's over. The best thing is the battlers can tell the judges basically their opponent fucked up. Which I find cool as hell. I've been surprised by this. It's way more fun than stupid synchronized swimming.
