The key thing will be how to they change the rage virus. The main issue it had before is its hosts became pretty mindless and they starved to death.

For this shit to be an issue nearly 30 years later would mean that either the infected are less dumb and can actually live in the wild for extended periods of time or there is some mechanism that infects people still (airborne doesn’t make much sense)
I had a not so original idea years ago about people that had partial immunity to the virus, they could succumb to fits of violent rage but could revert before / after going all the way mindlessly violent. Of course they’d always be deemed a threat in a normal society so they’d live on the fringe…I could see them playing with something like that. Otherwise could just be people that are crazy and brutal as a result of surviving in a hellscape etc….

The "happy" ending at the end of 28 Days was Studio mandated back then, they could just choose to ignore it
I've got the DVD somewhere, which apparently is out of print and you can't stream it anywhere, but the bonus features had the alternate ending where Jim dies. I'm honestly happy with the ending that we saw in the theaters.

kroenen kroenen I'm not a huge fan of this guy but sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut, but he pretty much sums up the quality of the trailer much like you did. I figured I'd posted because most of the stuff that he says is what most of us have been saying about the franchise.

What screwed up though is he talks about some DEI magician conjuring up a sequel to this film and apparently her claim to fame is directing The Marvels. Seriously, WTF. I'm pro life, but hopefully that project dies in the womb.

The sequel has been filmed already and is being edited alongside this one. Garland wrote it anyways so it likely won't make a huge difference who directed it, and TBH while yea The Marvels was shit people overblow who directs what with MCU movies. They probably gave it to her since Candyman 2021 was actually pretty excellent.

What the hell she directed the Candyman remake? I had heard the new one was horrible, and this is coming from somebody who saw the original in the theater, and I think I even saw the second one which wasn't near as good, but still serviceable.

That still doesn't give me a lot of Hope but at least if Garland wrote it, and hopefully was taking a producer role, maybe it will actually be decent.

I just had no idea that they had filmed the two movies back to back.

Nah its actually a pretty good horror film that is shot extremely well, there is social commentary in it which is why you heard its horrible, but the horror aspects are excellent. It was co-written by Jordan Peele so you knew what you were getting into there. If you are looking for a director for hire that can handle horror material in a visually striking way however you can do far worse.

If it makes a difference that she is directing it I will honestly be shocked. If anything I expect the movie to be more up close, claustrophobic and visceral then the first.

Yeah I think the reason I skipped out on the Candyman remake was because I had heard Peele was involved. I may have to check it out though just because I really enjoyed Barker's original film. I watched it sometime earlier this year again, and still enjoyed it, doesn't hurt that Philip Glass does the score.

Regarding the 28 years later film, it looks like Boyle and Garland probably have creative control other than just the general direction maybe, and maybe they see something in her ability but I'm not familiar with. I'm not going to write it off yet, but I can be leery.

The Candyman remake is garbage. There are a couple of laughably bad scenes and every scene involving the police is cringe as fuck. Not just the writing but the directing and lighting. Movie sucks.

Great, I already had a headache today, and now you've managed to make it worse. Thanks for that.:emoji_upside_down:
