Not sure if any of you play this anymore, but the A16 (PC) update is in experimental and should be live in the next week or two.
My personal experience so far is that this update is amazing. No longer are cities in a rectangular grid. They feel much more organic. The mechanics for zombies are significantly changed (sleeping zombies in all POI's mean you have to actually clear buildings), the heat map is changed, pigs (now hogs) fight back, wolves and vultures (to replace bees) have been added (vultures are fucking deadly).
The two biggest changes are electricity, which I haven't been able to play with much outside of cheat mode to see how it works, and hub cities. Electricity is fun as fuck to play with. You can set up trip wires, timers, and pressure plates to do things (activate traps, sound an air horn, turn on lights). The new traps are fucking cool, including a giant spinning blade.
The hub cities are an even cooler change, as essentially buildings become mini-dungeons. The skyscrapers in particular are fucking giant. I haven't actually had a chance to explore one (just heard on Discord as they cleared). The one they were in was setup to look like survivors had inhabited it, including setting up their own traps. It took 2 guys 2 in game days to clear it. There are also bosses in these dungeons. The one building I went through was a 5 or 6 story Crack-A-Book. Talk about schematics for days.
They also revised the skills system. No more spam crafting to raise tool/weapon crafting. Everything is bought with skill points now.
I'm also pretty sure there was a decent graphics update because it looks way better now. A lot of that may have to do with the buildings being updated, as everything looks much cleaner.
I highly recommend checking it out again once A16 is official, if you ever had any fun playing it previously. Keep in mind this is PC only though. Consoles are, I believe, at around the A14 era of content.
