Ferrell can do a better job as a the front man than Stiller but he still needs a supporting cast or at least a supporting writer that can deliver.

Stiller's Uptight Man is pretty played out yeah. His best work was Zoolander.

Gotta agree with not feeling most of his movies on the initial viewings. I've seen step brothers so many times since it's came out, but I'd still watch it and laugh if I saw it playing on FX.
His part in Wedding Crashers was gold.

Stiller's best role was Tony Wonder.

I like Will Ferrell, but he puts out a lot of shit. I liked Talladega Nights though.

I second the repeated viewings. The Other Guys is funny as balls and only gets funnier the more you see it. I imagine there will be some kind of funny plateau where it just stays that funny, then tapers down to not so funny, but I have yet to reach that plateau.

"You know what we call it when they do that? A soup kitchen."

Talledega Nights is also hilarious upon repeated viewings, as is Step Brothers. Adam Scott is rarely a poor choice. "It's the fucking Catalina Wine Mixer." I like Anchorman as well, and I just hope they really utilize Harrison Ford in the sequel. Just really make him do some uncomfortable things right before we have to see him as Han Solo again. That would rule.

I think Ferrell is amusing to funny in a lot of things, but I will say this about him; when that fucker misses, he MISSES. Swings like fuckin Babe Ruth.
That describes most Ferral movies.

Hated Step Brothers at first, but yeah. repeated viewings. gets pretty hilarious.

Land of the lost. again. stupid first time. But watch again... and ok. Kindof funny.

In general this thread. Elf bad? Talledega Nights bad? holy balls, what are you guys smoking?

I didn't see Land of the Lost but the idea that it was made blows my mind. I think that the studios will just give millions of dollars to any piece of shit project if it has a star attached. Land of the Lost was a fucking horrible TV show from the 70's that no one under 40 even remembers. Who in the hell thought that needed to be brought back?

That was probably the reason Ferrell wanted to bring it back in the first place. I remember in the movie they even make fun of the fact that the aliens (?) move so slowly. Danny McBride was the funniest part of the movie though.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Stranger Than Fiction. I really liked that movie, and it showed (at least to me) that Ferrell can actually act beyond slapstick humor.

Oh and Zoolander was mentioned... but for Stiller... what about Mugatu?

Stranger than Fiction was great but he had a stellar cast around him and while I think he was all around solid I don't think the performance was anything special.

The Campaign - Alright
Casa de mi Padre - Good
Megamind - Good
Everything Must Go - Shit
The Other Guys - Amazing
The Goods - Tiny part but he was good in it
Land of the Lost - I didn't like it but some did I guess
Step Brothers - Good
Semi-pro - Alright
Blades of Glory - Alright
Stranger than Fiction - Really good
Talladega Nights - I really liked it but some didn't. The advertising jokes weren't funny at all.
Wedding Crashers - Another small part but he was good in it.
Kicking and Screaming - Shit
Anchorman - Amazing
Old School - Very good
Zoolander - Good
A Night at the Roxbury - Good
The rest of his smaller bits (Austin Powers, Jay and Silent Bob, etc) - He was good in almost all of them

Really he hasn't put out that much shit overall. A few stinkers and some so-so but many good roles. I don't understand the hate.
