No, actually, we don't fucking like it at all.

Because they took an story idea that probably could have been done in an episode or two of a TV show, painfully padded the run time out well past two hours, and wedged it into a tiny time period where if any of the characters did survive it would immediately raise the question of why they weren't present in Episode 4.
I always think the question of why X character wasnt in Y is the dumbest when it comes to star wars or other properties(like always "WHERE WAS AHSOKA" ). Like not every rebel from the Galaxy was at Endor/Yavin, just like not every Imperial was at Endor either. The Galaxy is a big place.

The galaxy being a big place is indeed why you don't need to explain where Ahsoka or the crew of the Ghost is (although from the easter eggs you could infer that the remnants of Phoenix Wing likely took part in the Battle of Scarif), but Rogue One transitions directly into A New Hope. If Mon Mothma wasn't in A New Hope, you'd damn sure be asking where she disappeared to after being so important in Rogue One.

I guess we will find out in Andor where she was since it transitions into RO-> ANH. :)

Andor takes place 5 years before Rogue One, which is 5-ish years after Obi-Wan.
Season 2 basically ends at RO.
"He added that the final scene of episode 24 will “walk the audience directly into the first scenes of Rogue One.”

I wouldnt be suprised if we get Jynn Erso and some of the cast from RO in the final season, but from a diff perspective.

Also I assume in RO, Mon Mothma is openly part of the rebellion even though they don't dissolve the senate till ANH. So I am curious if they do explain where she is. I don't think EVERY rebel was on Yavin, maybe as a backup they sent some of the leaders away to preserve the rebellion in case they failed at Yavin, who knows.

As with all prequels/retcons, they basically will shoehorn it into the story in some way.

lol that's a big whoopsie from me, I forgot that Mon Mothma doesn't give the briefing until RotJ. So another strike against Rogue One is the plothole they created of why the de facto leader of the Rebellion after the death of Senator Organa fled the Yavin base when everyone else stayed to fight. They tried to answer that question with a short story collection but it directly conflicts with the canon from Rebels.

Anyway my point was that killing everyone off was the exact opposite of taking a chance, they were playing things super safe. And by playing things so safe, the only way they can use any of those characters again is by giving us YET ANOTHER FUCKING PREQUEL STORY.

I'm seeing ads for this and TBH Rogue One for me was probably one of the better Star Wars in the past 40 years.
It looks decent.

So rewatching RO in prep for Andor and came across this:

This would imply to me at the time of RO/ANH Mon Mothma is still not out of the senate so she is probably still undercover as a rebel, and as such wouldnt have perhaps been off world on /coruscant during the events of Yavin. I assume she becomes openly rebellious after the senate is dissolved.

Mon Mothma was working with the Rebels during Star Wars Rebels. The Senate got disbanded in Episode 4 after Leia was found to be a Rebel. The Senate was already useless as the assigned Imperial Governors were really in control.

Right but she wasn’t open about it is my point, which could very well mean she was off doing official stuff until she publicly defected. In Rogue one it’s Implied she was still part of the senate just like Leia feigned being a diplomat to Vader.

It's a continuity error courtesy of a lack of communication between different groups. Probably Kennedy's fault, god knows damn near everything wrong with the new era of Star Wars can be blamed on her.

Mon Mothma openly denounced Palpatine and was publicly declared a traitor to the Empire before the Rebel Alliance was even an Alliance yet, just a bunch of disparate cells struggling to stay operational. The episode where this happened aired after Rogue One but the season started before Rogue One and the scripts would have been locked down well before the season aired, probably when Rogue One was still in pre-production or very early filming.

the Rebels episodes with mon mothma aired in 2016 and Rogue One was out the same year so yeah, no real surprise small continuity errors there since both were written years before and Rogue One also went through extensive reshoots.

just rewatched Rogue One tonight since i haven't seen it since release and I really enjoyed it. Sure, there are some messy scenes but overall it felt like a great war movie and most of all it was interesting to watch and had pretty good characters. Especially after the shit show of TLJ/RoS, Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan it was just nice to see people react in believable ways and sacrifice mean something. I remember not liking Jyn Erso or Cassian Andor, but I liked them a bit more on this watch. They are the weakest part of the movie though.

Reviews are all over the place for Andor and it feels like the show is gonna be one of those things you either like or hate, hopefully you'll know by the end of episode 1 which camp you are in.

Three episodes are dropping in a few hours I think. 12 episodes total for season 1, another 12 for season 2 and thats it since it ends minutes before Rogue one starts.

First ep done. It is definitely different. Star Wars is just a setting in this so far, its pure Tony Gilroy.

Yeah its clearly not falling into the usual Space Opera tropes, at least not in the first episode. The use of the Star Wars galaxy as just a setting was the promise made when they first proposed the modern expanded universe of stories and I'm personally here for it. I suspect this will solidify Rogue One's status as the best modern Star Wars film.

This is actually good.
The 3 ep drop seems due to the amount of time needed to explain his backstory and what set him on the paths he did.

The jarring part for me is Cassian plays a more convincing role in these than he did in Rogue One.
He appears more devoted to the character, and yes it is about him, but still.
