I came back from seeing this.
I had a great time, highly entertaining.
The writing wasn't great both story and dialog which is what kept it from being a really great movie.
Jason Momoa did a great job with what he had, I really like his Aquaman, they toned down the Aquabro from JL movie a bit and it was in a pretty good place here.

i cant wait til its out in the usual places. i wont go into a bollywood movie. too much curry.

I went into this thinking: 1. The Atlantis scenes from Justice League were horrible, 2. Jason Mamoa can't carry a movie, and 3. the Aquaman trailer was completely retarded, 4. Amber Heard sucked as whatever she played in Justice League. I had the absolute worst expectations for this movie.
I couldn't have been more wrong. I loved this movie, even if it dragged a little towards the end, I loved basically every second of it.
I loved:
1. That it was basically an origin movie and a sequel in the same movie, really well done
2. Great humor without too much "bathos"
3. Jason Mamoa and Amber Heard were a great combo, and I fell for them, especially when they were in Sicilly
4. I was terrified the underwater scenes would be horrible, but they made them kind of trippy, with neat music, so it worked
5. <3 Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, etc on screen
6. I was glad they addressed the ridiculous number of Atlantean casualties towards the end
7. It felt fun without being all dark and depressing
Didn't love:
1. I felt like it dragged a little towards, the end, I *almost* got bored at one point, but I still enjoyed everything they wre giving me
Funny things:
1. The snow globe on a H. P. Lovecraft book, then the Lovecraftian "kraken" monster
2. When Aquaman and the King fight the first time, the screen shows Pros and Cons for each person, and Aquaman had no Pros, good laugh
Absolutely enjoyed this movie. I was truly surprised by this movie.
Also, look up "amber heard informers" for some really great sex scenes and breast shots

It was weird to me that they used book "The Dunwich Horror" when what I really think they were foreshadowing for was the race that was the one that attacked them on the fishing boat they stole, the really monsterous fish people, which to me was a direct nod to "The Shadow over Innsmouth".
Either way, that big Kraken thing definitely had a little Lovecraft to it. Loved that its tentacles were totally massive and that wasn't even showing the body of it.

i think my biggest like was it didnt take itself fucking serious like a snyder film and just went for fun stuff. thats what a movie is supposed to be. i'm supposed to enjoy it not be offended or informed, i was looking for diversity boxes to get checked and there wasnt any. just a good old fashioned superhero saves the day movie. breath of fresh air. others here are dissecting it and pointing out how this was dumb and that was dumb. i do that too when a film is trying to be all serious, but when its made very clear from the very beginning thats not the case, then i can forgive a lot of things.I went into this thinking: 1. Speaking of refunds, a buddy bought me and 2 others tickets to Fant4stic, if I'd paid for those tickets I would have been too embarrassed to ask for a refund. We sat through the entire thing. Generally I feel obligated to see the whole thing to give it a fair chance. Buddy got a full refund on all tickets. After going to the movies for 25 years, that was the first one I would have walked out of if I wasn't with friends (I still had a cold beer in my hand while relaxing on one of those fancy recliner chairs). That movie was just shit. Not fun, nonsensical, shit on the characters, bad unironic dialog, stupid shit plot.
I bet this movie is 10x that and I haven't even seen it yet.

Amber Heard has no business being in a movie. I dont watch movies to see hot girls, I have porn for that and there is way more pay off. She is a horrid actress. Manta fully understanding the Atlantian tech and creating the suit in a few hours was dumb. Aquaman taking a fishing boat to his destination is mind numblingly dumb. There are many other nitpicky things but the action was solid and the visuals were excellent. Momoa isnt horrible either when they tone down the Aquabro stuff. I'd give it a 6.5-7ish/10.

'Aquaman' Tops $940 Million Worldwide; Sony's 'Escape Room' Unlocks $18M Debut - Box Office Mojo
It's a third straight weekend atop the weekend box office for Warner Bros.'s Aquaman as the film pushed over $940 million worldwide, becoming the highest grossing worldwide release in the DC Extended Universe. However, Sony's release of Escape Room made sure this weekend wasn't all about holdovers. The PG-13 horror/thriller made some some noise of its own, delivering a surprise runner-up finish, helping prove once again that the beginning of the year is fertile ground for horror film debuts.
With an estimated $30.7 million, WB and DC Comics's Aquaman is the #1 film at the domestic weekend box office for the third straight weekend. The film's domestic cume now totals nearly $260 million and has now pulled even with Wonder Woman's performance after 16 days in release while still pacing behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a film Wonder Woman quickly left behind after 23 days in release. Aquaman will most likely follow suit and, once again, finish #1 at the box office next weekend, becoming the first film in the DCEU to secure the top spot four weekends in a row.
Internationally, Aquaman added another $56.2 million this weekend from 79 markets for a running overseas cume totaling $681 million and a global tally surpassing $940 million. The film's international cume is the largest among DC Comic adaptations, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises ($636.8m) while the worldwide cume ranks third behind The Dark Knight Rises ($1.084 billion) and The Dark Knight ($1 billion). Aquaman's leading overseas market is China with $282.8 million, nearly $250 million more than South Korea with $35.3 million. The February 8 release in Japan serves as the film's last key market yet to see release.
