Eh, I said I didn’t hate her. Just the way she talks got annoying. It’s a steampunk fantasy, I was fine with her. I didn’t mind her winning fights when she had the steampunk gloves, it makes sense. The first fight scene she’s in when she beats up teen boys her age was when I rolled my eyes. She got beat up too so it was still an ok scene, they didn’t have her dominate. She just felt like a plucky hot lesbian trope is all.

Compared to a lot of shows/movies, the plot armor does feel not as strong with this series. Even though you know the Champions won't be killed, they were still well written and handled each situation in a believable manner.
All of the champions should probably have died a few times over throughout the show but that happens in every show/movie. Ekko dodging bullets could have been so cringe if not for the amped up visuals/music in that segment.

Well going into the show not really knowing the characters (I knew jinx, Vi, and vaguely remembered Jayce, Heimerdinger from LoR) I had no idea who was going to die or not. I didn’t see vander, the kids, silco, Grayson, or that end scene coming at all. I figured vander was a game champion at the beginning. The only person I had a feeling they were going to off was Marcus. When jinx blew the bridge I had no idea if either made it with how many people I thought would be main characters they were killing off.

Riot got metooed/blizzard a few years before it all got out of control. Accused of frat bro culture and toxic masculinity. and all their female characters having giant tits. they've been going through and virtue signaling to keep their heads down since. Shrinking tits, covering them up, dumb shit like that, and otherwise keeping quiet.

I was thinking how smart Riot has been to use contemporary music and design language to broaden their audience. Everyone in the gaming industry talks about appealing to wider markets with tonality and representation, but the vast majority of their attempts fall well within the cringy "hello, fellow kids" territory.
But after I saw that fighting game trailer and Riot's serious outreach to the fighting game community (with Seth Killian and the Cannon brothers) I felt they might be onto something. Then seeing this streamer's reaction to Ekko and Jinx's fight I realized Riot, of all people, figured this generation out like no other game dev before them:
It may not be your cup of tea, but between the K/DA k-pop albums and their other hit rap single with True Damage, Riot's probably the only folks who are pursuing younger zoomer gamers this aggressively and succeeding. They already got a virtual lock on that whole demographic in Asia too.

It's also worth pointing out that Ekko beat the shit out of Jinx, which is the opposite of the SJW trope where tiny women beat hordes of giant men with martial arts.
I also liked that while the city is diverse, it's explicitly a new city of refugees and they show that the main black councillor is from elsewhere (Noxus). It's not like making random Europeans black to decolonise history.

Yeah this show did diversity right. It made sense there were people from all over, it wasn’t just shoehorned in for diversity’s sake.

I never even considered that angle. I guess it eluded me because, despite the fact I 'qualify' as a nerd, I've never found myself wishing-to-be-like or identifying with any of the characters I'm a fan of.
And SJWs have definitely poisoned the well in terms of straight men finding lesbians hot. When I think lesbian, the first thing that springs to mind is a fat, purple-haired, side-shaved, man-hating, BLM-supporting communist with a gash that smells like tuna left in the Arizona sun for a week.

Still, the show is amazing and I'm completely on board with all the gushing and praise. There were numerous times I found myself both amazed and speechless at the depth of emotion the animators (and sound crew) were able to convey. None of the subtleties were lost on me. There are a ton of moments with Jinx that can easily be missed if you're not paying attention.
It's the first show in a very, very long time that I'm going to watch again.

It's not like Vi is portrayed as a Mary Sue. Vi is an extremely flawed hero, and she keeps getting her flaws exposed and exploited more or less throughout the whole season. If anything, her poor choices precipitated all the tension and conflict in the show:

The facial animation for this show is an absolute masterclass. I don't know if it's because the painterly shader made them pay extra attention to it or if the shader lent itself to highlighting subtleties that would be less noticeable in a more realistic rendering, but the combination of restraint and complexity in each expression is why it's way beyond every other animated show or movie out there:
It's that restraint, in everything from the animation, to the pacing, to the economy of the script's exposition that impresses me the most. Dreamworks is rightfully mocked for how over-exaggerated their facial animations are and even Pixar has taken a hit for being stuck in their stylized rut. But though there are moments where it falls back to some overwrought scenes, in those moments where emotions had to be conveyed convincingly for the scene to work Arcane's facial animations were spectacularly done.
