Is there any evidence or hints of this? Or just what you hope?
On another note, its funny to see this game get this reception on this board. Considering its quest hubs(with the usual quest types) and tab locked target combat. Yet no one seems to be screaming "WoW clone" like they do with every other game.
No, directly from my ass based on some google fu.
I had a write up a page or two back on the game. Its tab targeting and the quests aren't anything special. 100% correct. The differences between Archeage and say TESO or Wildstar or NWN or any other game to come out since WoW are:
1. Huge world. Beautiful world. Tons of relief, tons of space, tons of little details. Sure you're being sent from hub to hub its just not as obvious because the world doesn't feel like a corridor or like it was designed to run you from place to place. The world is amazing.
2. Grinding MOBS is perfectly, 100% viable. Not only is it viable it is very rewarding since MOBS drop loot, give lots of xp per kill and the loot in game is generally not shit. Most everything is valuable.
3. Character development is excellent. The skill system is very well done. Lots of variety and different ways to build an excellent character. Do you remember playing EQ and thinking, "aww shit 5 more levels and I get x?" Well its back.
4. Combat is fluid, solid and very well done. Yup its tab targeting. I don't really notice. Abilities have tons of umph, they fire off correctly, I haven't felt locked into animations when moving, you have a very wide variety of skills to choose from and they all do something different. They feel different. I'd prefer it to be more like Tera style but TBH it is fine as is.
5. PvP exists on a lot of different levels. You can kill the other faction which is highly encouraged. You can gank your own players but there are penalties. You can also just be a total dick head and kill everyone regardless of the penalties. Options options options.
6. Contested content
7. Guild vs Guild continent.
8. Crafting is difficult but rewarding
9. Leveling is NOT a chore
Is it perfect? Nope. However it is the most complete game to be released since WoW and despite its blemishes is the first game I've played since WoW that I said "you know something, I think I can play this thing for 6 month to a year if not more".
