I'm gonna be blunt but playing Last Of The Mohicans' theme while bomb zerging people in Halcyona seems quite irrelevant. Going x8 while having violin going around is very underwhelming.I enjoyed listening to Trevor Jones once again. I didn't enjoy watching that video at all.

I think it's only interesting because it's the first day since Library opened that we won most of the Halcyonas.

Yes, I'm sure this miniscule blip in the scheme of things will be the tipping point. If a given action, while obviously not what anyone would want for the game, stands to profit you and you don't take them up on it (while someone else obviously will), you're an idiot.
I never said I wasn't taking advantage of it. I also never said it was some kind of tipping point. But, if it continues, it allows gold sellers to amass large amounts of gold for no cost and virtually no effort. And the problem could be solved if the fucknuts at Trion/XL simply made starter pack items untradeable.

Are there any tricks to sport fishing? I've been doing the mirage isle contest and hear people complain about 5 frys in a row while I'm still working on my first fish.

Is there any use in hitting abilities more than once? Or hitting them outside the reaction to the fishy's events? Is there any way to get them to jump more as that seems to be the only time I do any real damage.

At two coins a week I'm looking at 1.72 years to get the bathtub I want.

I'm not sure if the contest is different, but the strat in sport fishing is to hit the "big reel" ability just before the fish's debuff pops up. That way you're guaranteed to get the maximum amount of damage with each big reel. And to also be ready to switch to reel if necessary. Other than that I don't know if there's any strategy beyond keeping track of where your fish is when it dies.

Note that your fishing skill decides what pole/lure you use, which dramatically changes how much damage you do. So when you see someone with 90k fishing ice 5 fishes in the time it takes for you to take down a frypack, it's likely due to his high level fishing gear.

Unlike fishing out in the open ocean, the Mirage Isle fishing contest is completely random. You can land a huge fish with zero skil.

Tuco posts are a solid reminder I did pick a very bad Eu server during release (the kind of server any and every "hardcore fo life esport competitive elite pvp" guild choose mostly because we in Europe have a horrible MMO guilds warfare scene, crippled with zerg wannabe guilds, casuals and former past glories).

Tuco's posts remind me of how a server where every guild completely ignores gamebreaking exploits/KR "cheese everything" tactics could actually make ArcheAge tolerable.

Out of curousity, what do mean by gamebreaking exploits / KR cheese everything? The giant raids to take down world bosses they do and see on some servers without guild warfare? Or are you talking about the dupes, bots and stuff?

I haven't kept up with what's been patched and what hasn't, but for exploits, I'd go with any of the duping, teleporting, or bypassing RNG for crafting that was around while I played.

For "KR cheese everything," I am of course talking about AoE mages + powder kegs, and when 1.7 hits, Mythic cannons.

Hhmm, guess I am rather clueless about that stuff. I have no idea what AoE mages + powder kegs mean. All I know about the ships is, that we are saving up a shitton of gold and then just P2W the shitty naval combat.

Got a video? We've been ramming fishing boats, merchs and galleons together for the entire time and haven't seen that happen.

The best is that with the pre 1.7 physics a fully loaded fishing boat can bug out and sometimes knock a galleon into kingdom come. Sea pvp in AA is fun in part because of how buggy the physics is and how impredictble everything gets when fishing boats are in play.

It's surprising that you guys have been experimenting and not seen this. I don't have a video but we have no problem reproducing it every time.

I rolled west on PTR, but if you want to meet me at the big rock between Two Crowns and Austera, I'll show you.

Ohh on the PTS... The PTS has 1.7's new ship physics? That's cool.

Personally I hope it's easy to interrupt a fishing boat and board it. But being able to one shot it with a merch is too much.
