I agree.I really liked the ship battles. Only part I thought was kind of cheesy is when their boat sank, and they all just hang glide from the water onto the next boat. Was kind of weak, and really marginalizes the strength of ships--the strongest ship is simply going to be the one with the largest zerg.
Don't get me wrong, a big crew should give tremendous strength for boarding ect--but only if you actually have a ship to board from.
don't recall that happening in EQ. When I got my Epic, Primal, Fungi Tunic, Circlet of Shadows. Those meant something and changed the way I played the game significantly. Just because WoW introduced the + stats gear and constant gear resets with everyone being able to get everything doesn't mean it's the only way to do it^ sums it up right there glad I raid weekly so I can constantly upgrade my gears ever 4ish months all over again for marginal increases shit just gets dull and boring
Well it eventually happened in EQ as well. Focus effects are now basically by slot and each tier of gear is just + 2 betterer stats and a slightly better focus now.don't recall that happening in EQ. Awesome.
Sounds terrible. To reply to a couple of comments in this thread:
1. Your ships don't die when stolen/destroyed. It just costs got a few gold (pretty trivial amount) to repair it. You never lose the "deed" to your ship, you just lose the ability to summon/control it until repaired.
2. When your house is built in a PvP area that you control, and the land changes hands, you get mailed back a clicky that can summon your house elsewhere. There is limited space to put a house, however, so it does kinda suck.
3. There is not a lot more to the combat that what is shown. It is WoW target based combat all the way. This is what is holding me back from really loving the game.
4. The "end game" is what you see in the video above. There aren't raids in the WoW sense, there aren't BGs and there are only a handful of dungeons in the game, all of which are very simple and "Korean" style. You basically "make your own fun" by picking fights with other guilds / faction. They do have a whole farmville component to it that will attract people that it would otherwise not, but I am guessing not a ton of people from this board.
Its a beautiful game with really interesting mechanics, but the combat feels a bit archaic.
Add: The leveling grind is the same as most Western MMOs. It's not terrible.
