Arrow's whole first season is about Oliver making up for his parents involvement in the destruction of the city. It's not just something the writers had him say because they thought it sounded cool.

Pretty bizarre complaint
I never said it didn't fit with his character. And I was fine with it for the whole first season. And the whole second season. But I'm still constantly getting it, pretty much every episode, and now Daredevil is talking about his city of Hell's Kitchen and Gordon is talking about his city of Gotham. Which they all did in the comics, so it jives, and I understand why they are doing it because it is integral to their characters, but just saying I'm getting a little tired of it and they could all pump the brakes a bit. If I had a nickle for every time Oliver has said that he's 'failed this city."

I think the show is a lot better than people give it credit for. My only real complaint is the poor depiction of Arsenal. There was no real growth to his character. There was a montage of his training, a couple of episodes in which he was under the influence of mirakuru and then the occasional sidekick action. He didn't really contribute much. I'm not that familiar with the source material, but the comic book character seems a lot more important and bad-ass.

That could have been a cool episode, but they once again ruined it with shitty flashbacks, and the worst writing in TV.

My favorite part is Laurel getting her shit pushed in by some corner store thug, but holds her own later in the episode against two league assassins.

And that ending. /facepalm

that was fine, the knife thug had knives concealed which laurel was not expecting where as the LoA goons were openly dual wielding yaks. its basically what oliver was trying to teach barry, expect the unexpected.

now as for the dialogue, yeah it was pretty melodramatic. and christ felicity crying is getting so fucking old..

all that aside, i really enjoyed the flashbacks and the action keeps getting better. this is easily the best fighting tv show i have ever seen. making guesses here. when thea asks merlyn for help in changing oliver back, they cut the scene. next we see thea shooting an arrow into oliver's wrist. my guess is that whatever merlyn used to change thea back from the sarah killing robot, he gave it to her to try on oliver and he will change back to his old self. that was some badass shit when Al-Sahim cut the tail of the arrow off and yanked the other end out like it was nothing.

possible spoilers

Yeah, ok so she can fend off two highly trained assassins at the same time in the premier assassins clan on the planet, but a simple frat boy beats her to a pulp.

Sure, sounds very plausible. Whatever was I thinking....

YEah it's just astr0 being astr0. Laurel being able to hold her own against two league assassins was fucking retarded.

I really hope that Nyssa survives and goes back to training Laurel, otherwise I think we're gonna be stuck with her incompetent flailing through season 4 as well.

LoA goons are just sword wielding storm troopers. they dont even have a rank. even you two trolls must realize that by now.

I just went back and skimmed the part. She literally held them off for 16 seconds. Mostly just deflecting blows and then she was flat on her face. Not too unreasonable.

First, I appreciate you saying possible spoilers all the time Chuk, but you don't need to keep doing that. The time I complained it was spelled out in words here on the forum, not a video I had to click. Sure, those words came from the video, but I didn't even have the option of deciding whether or not I should click the video that time, it just said something like "Yep, not really dead, Lazarus Pit next episode." I think most of us realize that if it says it is a preview for next week, it might contain spoilers (which is why I typically don't click them), but thank you for trying to be respectful about it, I appreciate it.

But speaking of spoilers, was my bitching about "his city" appropriately timed or what?! Killing or almost killing possibly his best friend, Diggle, a couple of times wasn't enough to jar him loose from his League brainwashing, but who here doesn't think that destroying "his city" next week won't be the thing that snaps him out of it? Fucking city!

Yes totally reasonable, Laurel held off 2 male assassins that Ras picked personally to accompany Ollie to apprehend one of the most dangerous women on the planet. When the director went through a whole section of the first part of the episode setting up she can't fight for shit. Not to mention she has a device on her that knocks down people she didn't even bother using.

You Sir, win the Astro dumb ass award.

So their Assassin yak wielding storm trooper goons now . Maybe you are wrong, maybe he sent the Assassin Florist, and his Assassin baker on this mission...
Hell, he could have sent the Assassin Nanny for all you know.

Damian Dark and H.I.V.E. for next season? Good grief why not just make Adrian Chase the new DA for Starling City with some connections to the Central Bureau of Intelligence, add a new tech partner for Ray in the form of a former Star Labs employee named Sarah Charles and then have Thea get mixed up in a cult that worships Trigon!

Okay I know that Green Arrow has terrible TERRIBLE villains in his 'rogues gallery' but good lord steal from someone other than Marv Wolfman on occasion people.

On the plus side good to see Katana getting a proper costume. While I might have some nostalgia for the old Outsiders outfit it just would not work on a show like this and so the New 52 version is a better choice.

With all the "might have a future with Roy" business the fanboi part of me kinda hopes that they both move over to Titans (or Blackbirds as it is now apparently being called) on TNT but I'm pretty sure Abercrombie Lad thinks he has a movie career ahead of him.

Come on now, Ras hand picked them now, I think if anything the show has done it has done a shitty job in the compentacy level of the LoA grunts. Maybe Laurel got lucky, maybe Arrow said don't kill them, who knows.

I'm more interested in the whole Nyssa/Talia heir to the demon storyline. Also I couldn't have been the only one thinking Nyssa was going to put the moves on Laurel during the beginner of the ice cream scene. Full circle indeed.

Katana looks a bit ridiculous. probably should have gone with facepaint.
Felicity surrounded by leather ninjas is a bit lol too. Going to ninja island hun, wear some reasonable shoes. dont dress like you are going to starbucks in Manhattan.

Laurel held her own against LoA ninjas just about as long as Nyssa did. Totally legit.

And yes Karloff, I was totally waiting for Nyssa to start making out with Laurel, which would have been weird as hell but god was I wondering if they were going to take the show down that path. Would make her even with Ollie for how many Lances she's...well not impaled but you get the idea.

yeah, i thought Laurel was going down that route. i dunno if it was just wishful thinking because i am a pervert or thats how they made it seem like they were on a date and Laurel went overboard in trying to rescue Nyssa.
