i was in the recent PTR test featuring naval combat. early in the test the server reset
frequently, but it settled down as time progressed., i got and launched my boat and went exploring. i found be what looked like a deserted island. it was not deserted! overall it was an interesting test and i enjoyed it.

Lol nice! Beastly weapon thats forsure. Did someone say they are nerfing gear power? Any links to direct feedback aligning with that?

This is just ground citizen at this point. If there was a scope creep genre in twitch both of these games would be in it.

On the PTR they completely removed enchants, however not sure how they are going to do it on the alpha servers. Most likely nerf item power level again and/or reduce enchanting power

i just took a look at its original kickstarter page. Naval content was ALWAYS planned.
Yea. I remember him saying they were going to have naval combat back then because he was talking about how much he liked it in AA. They teased that caravan to raft thing a while back, so I guess theyre just feeling like its ready for release.

Naval Combat was one of the best things (IMO) in AA, so not surprising he wanted to add it to what was effectively his own version of AA.

Some of my favorite memories of that game were the Kraken event where you had like the entire server on boats in a giant FFA. I forgot his name, but this one guy was totally invested in the ocean combat and I was one the regular cannoneers on his boat.

I used to also love taking the small ships, accelerating towards the water tornadoes, and then calculating the trajectory needed to land on top of a galleon. If you knew what you were doing, you could basically 1 shot most galleons with a well placed impact since collision damage was a factor of speed and since you got launched into the air with a small boat really high, you came down on the ships faster than you could ever travel on the water (thx gravity)

We sailed around and hit a few islands to find the named mobs and mini dungeons. The tropics is massive - bigger than the riverlands. Not as content dense obv because its a dozen or so mid to large size islands with one very large landmass to the north, however the islands are packed with mobs and 1-2 unique named camps on each.

We actually ran into Steven on a boat, tried to chase him down and his fucking boat flew away to shouts of "HE HAS THE HIGH GROUND"

Couple pvp skirmishes with other groups doing the same thing as the tropics is full pvp currently.

Anyone have thoughts on daggers vs 2hd for rogue? Using a 2hd currently but the pull of daggers is there in the mind. However they all have less power than their 2hd counterparts so not sure the purpose of even having them beyond their attack speed.

until ttk gets fixed / adjusted, attack speed and cooldown speed reduction is useless in PVP compared to raw power. 2h currently the way to go.
