I know it's nothing amazing I came up with but I always wondered why people can't just all go when the light turns green. They sit still until the car in front of them is 30 feet gone. Drives me fucking insane.

The other bit is when you're getting shat out of the snake FUCKING GUN IT. I feel like people are lulled into a sleep and are afraid to accelerate out the snake like, "It's a 70mph freeway but I was crawling for the last 20m, better go 45mph for a half mile or so to ease into this."

With how much I assume that thing cost I'm boggled it doesn't have the capability to right itself. Have the manufacturers ever seen battle bots?
having a self-righting mechanism would increase the weight and complexity. It'd probably reduce its operational capability too.

Same with a slight incline, but one you can account for operationally.

How is a human controlled, non-autonomous bomb robot topical exactly?

Yeah, this has nothing to do with autonomous vehicles since it is neither autonomous or a vehicle.

Lots of bombs being defused when I posted that. One of the robots got blown up. RIP.

The intersection of autonomois passenger vehicles and teleoperated treaded bots is pretty strong.

I can see hybrid style vehicles (like the ones in Minority Report) doing well, where a driver drives on regular roads, but the AI takes over on designated AI roads like motorways. But there is just so much shit that can go wrong on regular town/city roads. Take for example if a car has stopped on a street to let someone out. Simple for a driver to check if there is any on coming traffic and drive round, but would an AI do that (or even be allowed to do it)? Same goes for construction work where you have to navigate obstructions. Also, I live in the north where it snows, meaning often during the winter you can't see the lines on the road very well, if at all. Seeing as most autonomous cars check for road lines that could be an issue to.

Also I'd love to see how a self driving car manages to pick people up at an airport. You're constantly being forced to travel in circles and have to recognize one human being and plan ingress into a pack of moving shit in order to do so. My guess is that you would have to have human intervention press the "go to curb now" button, not truly autonomous.

I agree with the I Robot/minority report thing on freeways. I don't really mind supercruise only freeways (provided they are much higher speeds, fuck robot slave 55mph) but I wouldn't feel comfortable without having any manual control on a vehicle. There's been enough natural disasters and ridiculous circumstances I've been involved in that I know it wouldn't handle. Just a year ago there was a huge accident right after freeway exit, cop waved people to bail over the enbankment into the off ramp if possible to clear the area. I don't really know how a Google car would deal with that.

Also I'm not sure I can even buy a Google car, I'm pretty sure the integrated conversation AI would pull over kick me out because I have non SJW thoughts and talk sometimes with mean words.

That accident wouldn't have happened in the first place if humans were out of the equation.

There was a pretty interesting discussion of this stuff on TWiT this week. It starts at 1:34 in and lasts about 15 minutes.

They successfully tested an autonomous truck last week, and they hope to have a commercial fully autonomous truck available by 2018. I'd be feeling really anxious if I was truck driver right now.

And Elon says that tesla's will be level 5 by 2018 as well.

I look forward to seeing the first level 5 autonomous car that doesn't use a lidar.
