We were too busy writing/filming fricking hollowed out volcano lairs with monorails and pirahna lakes being invaded by ninjas to bother with comics, people in the UK generally aren't nerdy enough to collect comics, there is only one comic book store in my city I think.

He's talking about this avengers, clearly.

This is why it's officially called "Marvel's Avenger's Assemble" in the UK (nobody calls it this), it was a fairly famous show in the 70s or something people's parents watched so they have a copyright claim.

The only good thing about that "The Avengers" revival was realizing, after I had gotten into his standup stuff a few years later, was that Eddie Izzard was the main goon. Mind blown.

I haven't touched this thread in a week or so, and will continue to avoid it until the movie comes out. Then I'll have a LOT of old pages to read through in order to catch up.

I'm so glad you posted in a thread you are admittedly not reading to inform us all that you are not reading it. It's these kinds of quality posts that make Rerolled the internet's best community.

I love that not only are those Scyfy type knockoff movies terrible, but more that no one involved seems to have any idea how to make a trailer that makes any sense at all. I'm in.

This individual does not speak for all of the UK obviously.

That said, when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s there was less access to US imported comics so we generally read things like Commando, think black and white WW2 comics with Germans exclaiming, "Schweinhund!" or Japanese simply screaming, "Aaaaiiieeeeee!!!".

Then 2000AD came along and the world was an infinitely better place. Then we had Dredd, Nemesis The Warlock, Strontium Dog, ABC Warriors, Rogue Trooper, Slaine, etc.

I think one of the very first US comics I ever read was Sgt Rock.

They had allot of those comics on the bargain bin in the US in the 90s. Could get a full run for like 3 bucks.

Nemesis was some weird shit, but I liked it.Kevin did another one for DC called Metalzoic which is one of the first graphic novels I owned.
