Was IW just too complex for you?

Yes. I find the more "complexity" a story has the worse it is. Diluted focus, unclear or non-existent theme, wasting screen time with self-indulgent bullshit.

We all knew going in Thanos would win and kill off a bunch of superheros. We also knew going in that the Titanic would sink.

IW plot: Thanos wants to kill half of the universe. Marvel wants to include 40+ superheroes in a movie. They do. He does. The End.

Titanic's Plot: A noblewoman from a poor family betrothes a rich, abusive asshole. On the voyage she falls in love with a charming peasant and decides to run away with him. Then the Titanic sinks and the lovers are separated.

One of these movies is a timeless classic. The other is IW.

Yep, was my main issue. Double the energy in the Universe in a way that doesn't affect life, thus doubling the resources and halving the rate of entropy. Quadruple it, if you want. Make stars magical so they draw energy from dimensions with infinite amounts, like Strange, thus stopping the whole idea of entropy and a limitation of resources. We could go all day with ideas that avoid murdering half of all people.

Yeah but we sit here in other forums all day explaining why this mentality is brain-AIDS. Humans (and since humans wrote this story, presumably all intelligent aliens too) don't respond well to that utopian bullshit. If you snap your fingers and do this, nothing changes. Bad habits continue and likely progress even further. This is the MCU Thanos version of fucking Barney Sanderson. "Fuck, we're running out of shit? SNAP FINGERS, FREE SHIT FOR EVERYONE!"

Being human is by definition a back-and-forth good-and-bad balance thing. If your scale tips too far in one direction and you crash into the ground, the answer isn't to magically prevent that from happening by lengthening the scale "lever." The answer that has proven time and again to work for humans is you crash into the ground, learn from the mistake, and rebuild in better form. Thanos is just being overly crusader about it since it happen to his own homeworld, so he's out forcing crashes on everyone to create the balance that is naturally possible. Oddly, his plan does actually prevent real-time suffering by skipping straight to the crash, but it does come with a psychological effect of now everyone's aware of this "god" out there who's gonna fuck their shit up if they let themselves simply grow unchecked again.

Hmm, where have I heard this type of stuff before?

Dunno, interesting thought exercise. But TLDR I'm gonna have to disagree with your guys' "issue" with his solution. Barney Sanderson/socialist-utopianism has done no good for humanity, and neither would Thanos Sanderson 2020.

I think its safe to say that Thanos is not entirely sane... So ascribing completely rational behavior to him is somewhat pointless. That's not to say that his ideas are without merit, but he clearly never really thought all of this through.

Anyone else noticed all the original MCU Avengers survived? Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Ironman and Black Widow.

what gets me is -and it just occurred to me this morning: Didn't thanos ORIGINALLY HAVE THE FUCKING MIND STONE which was in Loki's Staff/weapon in Avengers 1? all that trouble for something you HAD initially and LOST.

At that point he didn't want to personally get involved. He had others do his bidding.

He knew Earth had the Space Stone(Tasseract), and gave the staff with the Mind Stone in to Loki to help him get the Tasseract for him. Loki didn't even know he had an Infinity Stone.

He didn't expect Earth to offer such resistance.

I get it. They didn’t explain it.

Two things

1) Timeline is tighter than real life. It hasn’t been ten years.

2) Odin. Protector of the Nine Realms. He would roflstomp Thanos. Once he was dead Thanos was free to begin.

7) Power Stone amplifies the other stones greatly. He wanted to start there. That battle requires a fleet and a serious army to fight Nova

I just want more Drax, fuck everyone else.

Impossible. He is the master of the art of standing so still that he is invisible, and he was in nearly every scene, but you couldn't see him!!

Thanos mostly used the power and space stones, he got the mind stone back last.

Teleporting around was the key to collecting the rest, so that explains why he traded the mind stone to Loki to get the space stone.

Titanic's Plot: Boat sinks and lots of people die.

Citizen Kane's Plot: Man gets crankier the older he gets.

Lord of the Rings' Plot: Some people destroy evil ring.

Seems pretty dumb.

I thought the writers did an excellent job with the groupings of characters that aren't traditionally together. Mostly this was the GotG interactions but the Strange stuff was good too.

Two years ago I would have paid for a Falcon/Winter Soldier buddy movie but now I want a WS/Rocket one.
