In terms of updating the overall mythology I wonder what changes JMS might make. I feel the Centauri and Narn are still as relatable now as they were then.
The Vorlons and Shadows would probably get the most changes to make their conflict more nuanced rather than just Order vs Chaos.

I figured they will tack into the idea that no one is the villain of their own story. The shadows were a bit overly creepy/evil at times and that undermined their whole strength-comes-with-natural-selection mantra.
They could flip their roles a bit and make the Vorlons advocate for a 'there shall be only one' abject order and obediance whereas the shadows advocate for 'diversity' of many independent voices.

He really can't tell the same story. A lot of those surprises were *awesome* when you first get them - like Sheridan being Valen, the Vorlons basically being angels to every alien species folklore, the Vorlons being just as bad as the Shadows, etc. are all things that will have to be written differently.
I also read something that JMS doesn't even want to cast the same characters - its very unlikely he'll get actors of the same quality as the guys in the original; G'Kar and Londo will be very hard to replicate as an example.
I think the premise might remain similar - like order vs chaos, Earth withdrawing from the galactic stage until they need to be liberated somehow (Night Watch, Psi Corps, etc are very applicable in today's society) but the story and characters will all be completely new. I'm optimistic only because if JMS delivered on a good story once before so there's a chance (even on the CW) for it to be good.

JMS is still hungry and creative. He and Joss Wheadon have a lot in common in their ability to create magnificent characters and expansive story arcs. Also, GREAT dialogue. Joss is (I think) passed all that now. For all I know JMS is living in a trailer writing his ideas on yellow legal pads.
If he is given decent creative control and a 4 or 5 year commitment, it will be great.
