Finished act 1 on honor mode. Have a feeling it's about to get much tougher. Party of 3, Tav is a storm sorcerer, Shadowheart a tempest cleric, and Lae'zel a battle masster fighter. Pretty boring party. I may need to throw in a ranged class like a ranger. Too bad I stuck a stake in Astarion.

Accidently killed the Hag and didn't get the hair. Sucked.
I completed Honor Mode recently. I admit, I had to cheese it for the Elder Brain fight because stupid shit kept happening. You can hard reset your computer if things go badly -- it'll always load from the previous save. Be careful NOT to kill the game via task manager. It will try and save if it detects that.

I don't see why anyone would put themselves through that. But, I s'pose there are different strokes for different folks.

Playing Astarion as a thunder cleric is major fun. I'm just tossing Spirit Guardians on him, if shit gets too close, Thunderwave it back. Let's see something try and deal with constant damage. This, plus War Caster? fml.

EDIT : Oh yah, Shadowheart got pissed 'cause I freed the Nightsong without her last night, and she left my party. Oh well.

OPness is all about abusing item synergy more than anything else.
Yeah when I played this game at release without knowing anything about it I constantly found items that made me stop and think, "Hmm... this could be really powerful if I found other items that synergized with it...".

It's a shame this isn't common in the semi-singleplayer RPG sphere where itemization drives gameplay choices. Instead the standard is +1 gooderer with all the gameplay direction coming from abilities.

Yeah, speaking of that...has anyone seen any builds that take advantage of items that generate "heat"? There are a handful of items throughout the game that have that property yet I've seen no builds that use them (that I'm aware of).

I would strongly consider an evocation wizard who also knows some buffs to handle the ranged duty. Being able to drop PB AEs with no drawbacks is a big deal in Honor Mode. Stacking spell DC and dropping a key debuff can tip entire fights as well. Its just rough at the low levels as a caster, though thats easily mitigated by leveling up as something tankier then respeccing once you hit L5. But more than anything else, having a Dispeller and Globe of Invul is practically mandatory for several of the late game fights on higher difficulty.

I rarely sell much. Keep thinking I could fit out an entire character with all the crap I have, but I never really do. My first play through I did a monk and did not notice but now seems like unarmed attack stuff pops up all the time, maybe it's just I notice it since I have no use for it.

Also seems like at least the first 1.5 acts seems like itemization is heavily weighted to two handed weapons. There are good 1 handers but seems like I have a lot of two handerts, maybe because I only have one character that uses a 2 hander.

Because Heat Convergence isn't super strong. It's the only skill that I know of that consumes Heat to do damage. They nerfed a lot of the original synergies. Like all of the Lightning Spark stuff in Act 1. Especially the OG Lifebringer that gave you lol hitpoints when you generated lightning charges and Magic Missile could generate like 6 at a time.

Heat Convergance also required you to use Karlach or someone who has high heat resistance.

Also first time playing a high Charisma character. Normally I'm a kill everything good or bad. It's been interesting. Helaing house a few conversation options and the nurses/assistants all fight each other to the death and then the Dr. kills himself, same with the gold toll collector. It's different.

Act 2 has a lot of that - can get Kelric to kill himself and skip right to phase 2, till collector you can make die on deception check, and the demon in Shar’s can be convinced to off himself to get out of his infernal contract

Here's a curious one: I made the deal with Raphael in exchange for the Orphic Hammer. Never set foot in the House of Hope, defeated the Elder Brain and....no Raphael. Everyone lived happily ever after.

Kind of stuck in Masons Guild now. I've got the helm of acuity before and pretty sure I got it there. Of course now I"m a caster didn't pass any perception checks even with +2 perception on my shield.

NM IR dumb.

I'm stuck on the Ansur fight. He blows himself up before I can do enough damage to kill him.

That the undead dragon? If so, I think what you're supposed to do is just run away. It should show a circle around him in red that shows his blast radius. For me, I lucked out and had Divine Smite, upcast to level three, twice. I think the third and fourth attack I had it upcast to level two.

Benefits of playing a paladin, I guess.

should i play as an origin character or custom tav?

First play through I'd say custom, you will run into all the origin characters and they have a story.

I think if you play an origin character there is a generic character in their place but don't have the character story./quest.

I played as the Dark Urge my first playthrough. Wouldn't recommend it. I would wait until at least the second playthrough. Unless you're only gonna play it once, then.. Yah.
