As far as I'm aware James Bond doesn't have an origin story, he's a secret agent, it's a job.
The Batman origin in BvS was more violent than previous movies have shown it so it fit in more with the tone of the movie. His parents don't stand there shivering, they fight back.
I view the characters in the movie as seen from each others viewpoint, therefore dark and violent.

This movie is so fucking weird. It's tanking in money right now, and people keep waving around the RT audience score like it's not that bad.
I actually read a bunch of those reviews, and the people giving it three stars are just so negative. Like, it's super ridiculous. Did they not score it lower because it was a superhero flick? Or what? Occasionally there is a 4 star review that is somewhat good, but even there you'll find a mention of shit that person desperately did not like.
I dunno man. It's like people can't accept the movie was bad or don't want to.
The other thing are people who keep telling me, I LOVE BATMAN. I READ COMIC BOOKS. THIS WAS ON POINT FOR A DKR VERSION OF HIM.
Really? Reallyyyy? You mean the one where he famously destroys a gun, calling it the weapon of his enemy and saying he won't use it? The one where he shuts off the Batmobile weapons even though the mutant might kill him, because he doesn't want to be tempted to just shoot him?
The no killing/no gun argument is kind of old at this point, but man, come on. You are literally the people this movie was made for. The ones that kind of, sort of, like Batman but don't know his history.
And by far the best comment: "Who cares what Stan Lee advised. Does he direct movies?"

They really should stop with the origin stories of Batman and Superman regardless if it's a reboot or not. Just accept that the world knows who they are, and start with them being established superheroes.
The way it is now just guarantees the first movie of every reboot is going to be a complete waste of time and nothing new or interesting will ever happen until the sequel.

Tanking? Is that a typo for taking? It's hardly tanking - yet. Yes, it had higher weekend day drop numbers than other super hero films, but you can't just look at that percentage in a vacuum, since it had an $82 million opening day.

Deadpool took in more money on its first Sunday and Monday than BvS. It is not looking great for the long term earning capacity of BvS.

Yea, it had a good opening weekend, largely due to presales. As of the end of the weekend, it's earnings had dropped substantially and it's audience reviews have gone from 84% to 72%.
It's still going to make money, but that's some extreme nose driving.
We all knew we were going to have to wait after opening weekend to see what it looked like, and it does not look good.

Casino Royalewas, in fact, a reboot: The opening ofCasino Royalewas him getting his second kill necessary to receive his 00-status. Also, since Daniel Craig began as Bond, the franchise has effectively been serialized, with returning characters, effects of deaths and situations lasting from movie to movie, etc.
EDIT: When I started to post this earlier today, no one had pointed out that Casino Royale was in fact a reboot. Now its a dog-pile. Sorry, Royal.
Look, show the origin for Batman/Superman/Spiderman every time you reboot them. You can dwell on it or not dwell on it, depending on how important it is to your story. Almost all of those characters' origins are vital to who the characters are, Batman perhaps less so. If you are going to reference Uncle Ben in making Spiderman who he is, then you have to show it. Is Martha Kent going to show up forever? Then you have to establish her as a character somehow, flashbacks/traditional narrative/whatever technique you are going to use. You have to know who Batman's parents are, because otherwise Bruce Wayne is a flaky billionaire. It doesn't matter how much in the zeitgeist the story is now, or how well known the origin is today; these films are being made to stand alone for all time.

A freakishly bizarre dream sequence and several minutes of protagonists watching YouTube videos beg to differ.
Dropping hints at things to come is one thing. Devoting significant chunks of screen time to things that make no sense within the story being told goes directly contrary to making a "stand alone" film.
It's actually another Mall Rats, and it's being filmed right by my house in the Exton Mall!
Strange movie , some parts were like this was at one point a good story and some were just mind fuck dumb. Was all over the place, cant explain that, the tides come in, the tides go out is all that comes to mind for this bizarre ass movie. Shit was made for dumb America is my only real explanation for this strange fucking movie and it being some sort of subliminal mind fuck to keep the masses in check. Really fucking strange, wonder how many things were changed from the original script, cause there really was some good parts mixed in with the strange and i know i keep saying it but it just felt so fucking odd watching this movie, as if my brain functions were being altered as i watched it. So many things tossed into this movie that just did not add up to the whole story as a whole but rather pushing some other agenda. I dont mean the set up for more movies, just something else. I dunno, shit was fucking dumb to be honest.

I disagree. They did an entire TV show about his origin. That's just as accessible as the movies even if you want to slip that detail under the carpet. The stories (both of them) have been beaten to death more than ANY origin story. We'd need another 2-3 wolverine origins to catch up. Fuck.
We need another Chappelle Show so someone can go out on the streets and ask people stupid shit like this. If 80% of the people seeing this film didn't know either characters origin story I'd be fucking shocked. But who knows? Really seems like a waste of time to do decrepit batman AND his origin story but maybe everyone is wrong about that too. We might just be one or two posts away from all realizing this is a brilliant Oscar worthy film or at the very least a worthy story deserving of not just Batmans name but Superman vs Batman and not a huge steaming pile of dogshit that everyone except 12,397 nerds seems to recognize.
