Totally.

People need to understand that the characters in the movie haven't been going since the 1930's.

A lot of the shit in comics doesn't make sense in a live action movie and would be corny or just unrealistic.
Yes. Please lecture the audience how they don't understand Batman and Superman. We just got done with 2 of the 3 best Batman live-action movies ever.

Meanwhile Marvel turned Ant man into a successful and fun movie. Ant Man... Your arguement is fucking retarded.

Sure, but Lex has already been perfectly portrayed in smallville and the cartoons, so no excuse for turning this version into a fucking clown, they already have a clown in that universe he's coming later in the year.

yeah. like Superman is just an immigrant, who lives the American dream of truth, justice, and can do attitude. god that is so silly.
Superman can only work as Jesus. New gods are devils, and angels.
Truth, justice and the American way is such a crock of shit in this day and age do you really think it's still viable to trot him out with that shit? Maybe he should be a Trump supporter too?

Further down the line he will have a connection to the other members of the league and I would imagine he will become more confident and lighten up.

I think both can work, just need to be consistent.

I didn't like MOS because I thought it wasn't the norm for Supes to kill someone, but I didn't know Snyder was making this whole alternative universe where everyone is different.

Like I said in earlier posts, the DC creative teams in comics are constantly re creating those characters for a long time now. There is no standard.

When people make rideculous statements like I wish they would just be true to the Batman character I have to wonder if they have ever picked up a DC comic in their life

Yeah but playing one character the same when all the others are vastly different isn't consistency in your world building.

They wanted to do an amalgam, and it fits the motif , like it or hate it.

The Lex portrayal was different sure but his actions were the kind of thing Lex would do, it was actually a lot closer than Gene Hackman's Lex who just wants to raise property prices or be given Australia :/

I don't rate Lex as a great villain personality anyway so it really didn't bother me that his character was different.

I like how when Bruce Wayne saw all the terrible destruction in Metropolis, he decided to take his jeep to check out his falling building...

Biggest threat to the planet/country ever, "NA I don't need bat gear for this one"

and since when is Metropolis "just across the bay" apparently its Metropolis is San Fran and Gotham is Oakland.

Metropolis is In Illinois.

I get what the movie is doing, I get that this series of movies is going to be grimdark Superman and grimdark Batman and Unintelligible Wonder Woman. I get that Zack Snyder/ Goyer is obsessed with this stuff and thats what his movies are going to be. Zack Snyder doesn't suck as a director. Goyer....i guess... doesn't suck as a screenwriter since his movies make billions of dollars. I just am just at the point in my life i don't want to watch Dark nonsense. It hasn't been edgy since 1989.

I just wish in my life, in the 30-50 years I have left they would have a Superman that can be an inspiration, because I am tired of the Gods of my youth being deconstructed to nihilist meaninglessness. The Lex Luthor vs Superman arcs of All-Star Superman would be great. 3 panels of an Origin story and having him save the world by sacrificing himself for a million years fixing the sun so we can live. That doesn't mean I want Golden/Silver Age Superman, or 66 Batman , or Batman Returns Batman. It Bale-type Batman, teaming up with a Cavill Superman who has something to fucking smile about beating up Starro, or Saving Big Barda and Scott free from Apokolypse, the off the wall crazy fun shit that.

If fucking Ant Man can have a movie why cant the justice league do some crazy off the wall shit?

They can we just don't have those people in charge right now.

It's funny that Marvel who is known for the darker stuff is lighter in content ( obviously sans Deadpool), and DC is going the darker route.

Maybe there needs to be that balence so we don't get burned out on the whole thing.

The single biggest reason for this is the perfect casting of RDJ as Tony Stark and the job that Favreau did making Iron Man. It was the most successful of the first wave of MCU movies and it's lighter tone had a lot to do with that. It showed them what audiences would gravitate towards and they've run with it.

Ironically DC had that same sort of actor early on in Ryan Reynolds they just wasted their opportunity by putting him what ended up being a rather mediocre movie. And now he's knockin' it out of the park for the competition.

did the movie say "just across the bay", or are you quoting someone posting?

Metropolis and Gotham are "usually" exactly that.
Gotham, NJ. Metropolis,DE.
(Do imagine Gotham as Atlantic City, and see how much sense it suddenly makes. Heck, Wayne is even Trump.)

The movie stated "just across the bay" then showed a shot of it from Lexcorp tower.

The new jersey thing makes a ton of sense and is back by lore.

Uh. Civil War?

Captain America isn't about flag waving anymore, he's more of a symbol of what a good person should do when faced with difficult choices wether or not it goes against orders. If he was just a soldier he'd follow orders like a good boy.

Captain America and Superman have fuck all in common, Cap is just a normal guy souped up a bit and Superman is a god.

Personally I prefer Cap to Superman, even when he was a weakling he still had the same attitude.

yes exactly. superman has never been about flag waving either. cap and superman stand for the same thing. truth, justice and the American way meant something a whole lot different 50 years ago. it's not about ethnocentrism, it's about aspiring to be the best person you can be.

6/10, Bat Affleck won the movie.

Jesse Eisenshit alone knocked it down 3 pts and the other pt deducted for all the needless Justice League/Wonder Woman filler/dream sequences.
