Sounds like your collecting too many. Trim the fat. Maybe one spare for if you derp and lose a mech and start selling all the lights/mediums if you are in heavy stage. Easily replaceable anyways.

Also some ofthe weapons sell for a lot. Usually every game gives me like 10+ heat sink/JJwhich alone is like 30k. Dont need 10+ stacks of ammo etc

Make sure to sell where you have max faction. I did a few 2.25 million cbill upgrades on the Argo so got a bit low, having to do a few missions for money now instead of salvage.

TFW you're staring down a thunderbolt, battlemaster, and 7 supporting light mechs and start to sweat a little bit until Glitch one-shots the thunderbolt and the battlemaster on consecutive turns with the gauss rifle. Full battlemaster salvage ain't too shabby, although the hardpoints and spare tonnage are nothing to write home about. Doesn't seem worth being stuck at base init 1 for the minimal gains over something like a black knight or a cataphract.

Being able to instakill guarded mechs at extreme range with a single action is $$$, gauss rifle is crazy strong.

I have my Centurion decked out the other way. One SRM6++, one SRM4+, and an SRM2. It can knock over anything or at least make it unsteady with an alpha strike. Put a pilot with the evasive talent in there, and you've got something that'll keep standing. I don't run with as much ammo as any of y'all do. I've got one, maybe two ammo packs. I figure, hit them fast, hit them good, and if they are still standing after the missiles run out, then I can just beat them to death.

Although, now that I am running into heavier and heavier mechs, it is becoming more and more of a problem.

EDIT : Oh yah, I read something about the patch. Apparently they are going to make LosTech appear in some system(s). *shrug*

I still don't know how anyone runs out of money. Half done with argo chaining upgrades and just did the ammo depot story mission. Sitting at like 7mill even after buying + weapons on sight and doing +2 morale budget. Yall paying upkeep on a ton of extra mechs and pilots or something?
Earlier in the game for us I think. You're playing more.

Yeah. Money issues stop being a problem when you regularly see heavy mechs on your missions. Assuming you don't get your whole lance in the repair bay then you should salvage at least one heavy a mission and you can do two to three missions a pay cycle depending on travel. So base pay if you go max salvage which is like 80k avg and usually hits 100k+ if you do all objectives plus just selling off the heavy you salvaged for between 350-550k sets you up at 1.2-1.8 million Cbills a cycle. That is at the low end. I've been spending extravagant since I figured that out and with an Argo just missing the last four to five upgrades total I'm still sitting at like 3-5 mil in Cbills once I make my payments. I'd wager I'm about fifty to sixty percent through the main storyline so this is definitely not late game cash.

Well just got my first major buttfucking from bullshit game mechanics. Enemy lance drops in, gets a free move towards me, then immediately goes into combat and gets to act again and they all focus on my zeus since it never got to act and they knock it down. The pilot ended up dying but I managed to keep the ac20++ intact, but the fight turned into such an ugly brawl that I lost both lrm15+ on my secondary missile boat. Fortunately he was one of my backup pilots that I was bringing in for some xp. Still pretty pissed.

Where do you get this patch if you got the game from GoG, just wait for GoG to release a full 1.01 client? Or will there be a downloadable patch?

I'm only I think like 7? missions in. My biggest mech is a 70ton grasshopper. Other than the weekend I've only gotten a few hour hours in since I'm busy with a bunch of job stuff.

But given how different it sounds like some mech spawns are, I could easily see a handful of side missions loot ending up radically different and that alone adds up to quite a bit of cash difference. I would strongly lean towards always taking the most salvage guaranteed points, rest rep or cash. (Ie if you can do 2/5 3/7 and 3/11, I'll take 3/7 and then a little extra cash. If I think there will be big mechs etc, new planet etc, I'll take the 4/x if it's there.

I think max salvage is the way to go regardless. One heavy mech and your even with the average payout for a mission cash wise. A second mech and your ahead of the max money payout (usually) not counting the actual reward money or other parts you sell off. I've had a good chunk of missions where I target salvage the highest value mech and then get two more mechs from just the random salvage. Mid game just in mechs that is between 1 and 1.5 mil in cbills on average.

Autosave load before the mission if it's that bad of a loss.

I try to avoid save scumming, but sometimes these persistant games the penalty for basically what amounts to a failed mission is too steep to continue almost.

I would be curious to see clips of folks matches where they struggle. I might share a clip but I think the best I can do is 2minute clips via my graphics card software, hardly enough to cover much of a mission.

Also I think besides mech sales, the main mission rewards are ridiculous, last one I did that was the ammo depot as mentioned. Saving all the crates for the secondary objective made it a 1.8 million payout.

Ran into a mission that had two LRM Vehicles, a tank with two AC20, and a Manticore... and then a second lance that auto-appears with two LRM Cents, an Enforcer, and a Locust. Was only marked as a 2 Skull o_o

Stability and LRM is probably the thing that keeps me from enjoying this game to it's full potential. Particularly when you are always outnumbered and you almost always end up with a mech knocked down a round.

That ammo depot storyline mission pissed me off to no end. Think I had to try 3x to get it done - I just couldn't get the enemies to get in the damn radius of the charges to blast (since you get 2 free to blast and still retain full bonus). That and one other time I have save scummed, just because I was winning a mission, but it was such a pyrrhic victory - losing every damn +, ++, and +++ mod on my 2 best mechs - I said fuck it. I've never played a persistent game before like this where the RNG could fuck you so much. Like losing a pilot to a headshot on the first round of combat from half way across the map. No amount of skill in the world will unfuck that.

That all said, I'm really enjoying this game, and I'm awaiting the continued optimization of it, and it looks like they are already working on that.

I've been doing main missions when I want expensive Argo upgrades for that reason. Even merc missions have some pretty good boosts from optional objectives. I had an escort mission where you had to protect a VIP in one of four APCs. After going 4/X salvage the mission payout was 67k. However I had optionals for making sure all APCs survived, wiping out the enemy and wiping out their reinforcements. Completing all those boosted my money payout to 250k I salvaged two mechs off the mission as well. So I ended up making 1mil Cbills off of the mission before I sold off the basic weapons and heatsinks. The max money payout for that mission was like 700k.

edit:
OneofOne OneofOne on that mission I just rushed a medium mech to kill the two trucks while I had my other three mechs hump the hill at the southern central portion. Used the medium to just sprint around distracting two enemy mechs while the rest of them tried to come around the hill getting alpha striked one by one.

ya I do max or 2nd to max salvage every mission and I have a fuckton of money from selling mechs. Keep a couple higher tonnage mechs in storage for just in case but that's it. Also need to cull your items too, it's easy to take a look and wind up with like 60 medium lasers, thats good bucks there.

Enemy reinforcements early in a mission are confirmed to be a feature and not a bug by HBS.

Basically it's a "Oh shit our intel was wrong" - Darius will sometimes say something relevant about the mission about how he doesn't like not knowing the enemy forces, or that the enemy will have backup.

If you have to, just GTFO

The RNG for hits is pretty much like tabletop, most of the mechanics have the same feel

All the mechanics for combat from tabletop, you will see it is real similar.
