yeah it is sad. i actually met a couple camping who had a squirrel. it was in their tent running around and i was like wtf theres a squirrel is in your tent! and they said yeah its there pet so maybe its not as uncommon as we think.

Lots of people feed wild squirrels. It's quite common for them to become tame.
The problem here wasn't that he had a pet squirrel. It's that he was posting it on the internet and making money off the squirrel. You do something illegal eventually someone is going to call you out on it. Especially if there is money involved. He should have got a hamster like everyone else.

dude is running an animal orphanage. was using the squirrel on social media cause he was the mascot and lead to a lot of donations. he was in the process of getting the paperwork to have the squirrel legally but they took it - they put it down cause it bit someone and they wanted to test for rabies which is a bit of a bullshit concern considering he was living in the guy's house for seven years and well documented
