I worked as a programmer for 5 years and saw it first hand. The whole shortage of CS/STEM people is one of the biggest lies out there, I've been saying this for years. They only do it to justify bringing in Indians, most of whom have made up degrees from made up universities.

I've heard people like Michio Kaku argue with people about this, but the one thing I never see anyone counter with is that these aren't the best and the brightest, they're just cheap bad labor to undercut Americans. An office programming job isn't the same thing as some cutting edge researcher at MIT. Sure, recruit the best for MIT, but we don't need H1Bs for some entry level programming job based out of Des Monies. The locals of Des Monies need those jobs, and I guarantee you they're better than the Indians they bring in. You could literally replace any job this way. Doctors, accountants, electricians, truck drivers, anything. Make it legal to bring them in and work, and they'll take those jobs at a fraction of whatever they pay now. Then, when they get citizenship, they have all of that work experience and they make the higher salary, meanwhile Americans are stuck on the outside looking in.

The whole push for doing this will kill off the last good paying jobs left here in America. Coupled with inflation, no one under the age of 30 will be able to afford to buy even a shitty little house, ever.

Man, nobody had anything around me for weight equipment, it sucks for buying used where I live. People were asking near full price for old shit, so there wasn't any point.

The best thing I scored recently was a Bowflex Max trainer for $300, but hopefully I can start using it more as my joints heal.

When I bought a bunch of Chinese-made blades, I did it on the cheap ages ago when a local mall used to have a shop owned by friendly Asian people. I still have them around and pretty much just use them for opening packages.

It sucks because my virus feels a million times better already despite, at least according to the bloodwork, that it could have been (is?) serious (EBV, which can become mononucleosis), but my joints feel like I was hit by a truck. So the worst part is I feel like I could workout without any other issue,, but my joints are in the way.

I'm seriously hoping some of this is just being exacerbated by the virus or being amplified by chronic pain/hypersensitivity at this point since I'm well past the chronic pain duration.

Facebook looks like it was designed ages ago, and it feels just as bad, so I don't know what their end game here is other than to confuse the remaining old people and irrelevant brands like bb.com that still use it.

Instagram makes some sense, but I have no idea how anyone can use that shit without having already suffered multiple traumatic brain injuries, so I guess that's who they're after.

All someone has to do (not you, Craigslist) is make a semi-competent competitor and marketplace is over because they're prioritizing whatever the fuck data-whoring shenanigans they can instead of a remotely competent website.

Like, take a poll of anyone who's ever had a pleasant experience dealing with a call service in India, and now you want these people in charge of important jobs that could potentially undermine our already fragile state of national tech security?

Then you can do crazy shit like using the cables and weight stacks as resistance for the Smith bar, which is very similar to the Inspire Centr 3 concept except not godawful. With that, there aren't any of the typical Smith machine pegs to place the bar and everything is self contained on the cable trolley, so you would have to start every exercise at the bottom position instead of racking like a sane person.

Damn near everything is going to be made in China regardless, but there definitely is a vast difference in quality plus the lack of standardization on the cheap models, so you're locked into a limited ecosystem like Force USA and the nonstandard uprights.

I was looking into a lot of equipment, and anything quality is expensive, the Ares stuff is massively expensive, no contention there, but it basically goes back to the old rule of you get what you pay for as you said. I ended up investing in their REP 1100 series stuff and I think it's the best bang for the buck. Added some accessories over the course of a few months once I started using the thing and getting a feel for the rack and the bench that I got, also from REP. (AB-3000 FID 2.0 bench) It's pretty solid and I love the multi grip pull up bar. REP does have a shorter 6ft rack.

I just looked up GET RXD and they seem to have some quality stuff too, the RX3 looks like a stellar piece of equipment. Little more than what I paid, but whatever gets the job done for the application. I have my setup in a spare room and holy shit does it take up a lot of space, especially with the cable attachment, but still enough room to easily get around and rack weights..
