Its to simulate old school air traffic rau unit. I would like it to have three positions but I can deal with on off
Prob a number of ways to do it, but I'm not familiar with the application honestly. And instead of 2ea 3 position position switches, it might be much easier to use 2ea momentary contact pushbuttons, both used as inputs, and have those cycle through an off/on/flash cycle regardless of which one you push and from where. This would of course mean having some sort of input/output setup, and while I haven't had the opportunity to play with one yet, you might be able to do something cheap with an Arduino board. I'm assuming that you could play around with timers in them somehow but not sure how they are programmed; I've been thinking of buying one myself to mess around with but haven't gotten around to it just yet.

If this is something like model railroading (?) you could prob find something similar, I dunno.

If it's stopped up enough to back up from condensate I declare you mega fucked
Yeah I know. Tried using a coat hanger but no dice. I shop-vac'ed the water out and the drain has a plug in it, so I'm assuming that this floor drain DOES drain to the septic system but the rest of the drains/toilets/showers work fine and nothing is backing up OUT of the drain itself.

I found on old copy of the"disposal system plan"that was filed with the city when the house was built in the '80s. There is a note on it that says"basement floor grade must be at least 2.5ft higher in elevation than existing surface grade at point A"with 'point A' being where they have 3" ABS leaving the septic tank and heading to the laterals. So I'm assuming that it does indeed tie to my septic even though it doesn't show the drain (or anything else inside the house really) on this print, only the outside underground shizzle.

Not sure how much gas I would release if I undo that plug since it seems to bypass the trap itself (if the Internet isn't leading me astray), though maybe if I can get that plug out I can see if it's clogged right there in the trap or further down the line somewhere. I tried a small pipe wrench on the plug and it didn't budge; wonder if I should get a big crescent wrench out and put my full retard strength into it (hopefully I don't end up breaking anything in the process).

Looks just like this kinda:

except mine looks like it's all cast iron coated in inches of rust and mystery sludge. Also in the winter when we don't have condensation that drain has gone dry in the past which meant we would have to go around with a bucket of water to pour in all of the basement drains (there is a shower/sink/toilet in the basement also that are never used that all get dry traps if we don't). If I was building the house from scratch now I'd get whatever Eomer were doing the plumbing to put in whatever the "trickle" pipes are where they run a copper water line to the drain before they pour the concrete so that the drains are kept irrigated and don't get dry trap.

Not sure if the wet/dry cycle affected the drain itself but yeah, it does look fucked now that I got the water out of it LOL

Where can I locate some supplies for this e
I don't even know what you need bro, can you give us some pics?

Also, good news, everyone! My drain is fixed, it's a Picasso's thread miracle!

Before I started breaking anything I figured what the hell, lets stick the nozzle of the shop vac as far into the trap as possible and see what happens. Amazingly I got a bunch of sandy crap that looks like all the rust shit that prob fell down from the drain and cap over the years. Poured 5 gallons of water down it pretty fast and it drained pretty damn quickly. I'm now a Master Plumber!

Yeah bro but I think that cleanout is for access past the trap, not for access to the trap itself. I think if you didn't have that then you wouldn't be able to get a snake into the pipe between the drain and the main trunk (?) but I got lucky and just had a bunch of crap right there in the trap itself.

Eomer woulda charged me hundreds of Canadian dollars to clean it out, though I don't think Canadian dollars are real money anyways

I think because he's a gazillionaire, and he likes doing it so much, he'd unclog those pipes for free.

Shit son, I didn't become a gazillionaire by cleaning pipes period. Fuck service, trying to make money a few hundred bucks at a time. I'm all about the big contracts. Just picked up a 2 million dollar hotel and two 25-30 story high rises worth just under 10m last week. Feels good bros. Might even be able to pay out the bonuses we declared on advice of our account 4 fucking years ago sometime in the next year or two. Fucking accountants.

Moral of the story: play hockey, die drunk in a car crash, and Canadia will give your family a donut franchise. True story.

Naw, I have about 2 semesters left for a couple associates then I'll prob go for at least a BA. Though I thought about doing CAD as people were saying that good CAD people got paid very well, but /shrug.

I don't think that I will ever want to do construction again.

I can't wait to cash the fuck out at some point. It really is a shitty industry.
