Hrmm mine is unpacking, and has been for the better part of 15mins. Is it safe to switch once it's at that stage? I really don't get why it's so slow.

Edit: nm it worked, nm.. I guess I still need the VPN to play.

Oh ... my.... God. Holy atmosphere and graphics! Running a GTX 570 with i2500k 4.5 Ghz on ultra and everything runs perfect with that new NVIDIA driver update.

This game had me within the first 10 minutes when...

I was walking along just looking at how awesome the game looks when a barbershop quartet was on a floating blimp and came down and sang God Only Knows from the fucking Beach Boys! HOW FUCKING AWESOME!

Bye bye life. See you again in 4 days.

Man, I abandoned any hope for this game months ago. Back when there were all those announcements that people were dropping from the game left and right, I in turn dropped my hopes for the game, and was convinced it would end up vaporware. Plus it just didnt seen like they could actually pull this game off with how it looked. With all these reviews...guess I will definitely have to pick this one up.

Wait a bit longer. early reviews are still early reviews, and just not trustworthy. I dont see much talk of game mechanics.


but yeah, i was worried as well. Seemingly good reviews have my hopes way up again.

Not sure what surprise you're looking for in game mechanics. 99% of it plays exactly the same as other Bioshock games. Only difference here is that you have a companion that can provide situational items and give you extra money/health/salts/ammo when needed. Otherwise you're shooting people in the face, searching through desks or listening to audio logs.

Gearing with the clothing buffs and faster paced combat are pretty large metamechanic changes that might change the reception from critics of the original from just what I've seen via reviews

I did some searching and couldn't find an answer, how many hours of game play are we looking at?

The game looks promising, but 15-20 hours of game play is dog shit, and that seems to be about the common play times these days.

Ill: I'd assume with no "smelling the roses" ala speed run it will peak at 15 or so. But there looks to be tons to delay you.

Actually, if you put steam to offline mode then let the vpn disconnect, you will be able to play, as long as steam is still in offline mode.

Reviews say 10-15 so I'd bet a real speed run would be 5 hours. Only comment I've seen regarding the platinum trophy said 23 hours for it.

I'm a couple hours in now (but I've been smelling the roses a LOT) playing on 1999 mode. Either I'm rusty or this shit is hard. It's not so much that I'm running out of resources but I'm getting wasted fast. I haven't died yet but they've barely taken off the training wheels.

I'm loving it.

I beat the game in 10 hours on hard but I skipped a bunch of optional quests and stuff. I dont know how people will get 15.
Also a pro tip: If you get a crappy Gift Wrap gear you can just reload last checkpoint and go back and grab it for another chance at a different one. Healing gear was boss.
