How do you see your cost basis on Coinbase? does anyone use it? I'm pretty sure I'm way up, but I have no easy way to tell what I actually transferred in precisely enough for uncle sam.

No idea, transfer it offline, then say you have never actually withdrawn it.

Thanks but I'd rather pay Caesar his due and not worry about it, I guess I'll have to look at old bank statements to see what I transferred in, pity coinbase is still so rough around the edges, you'd think something as simple as a cost basis would be implemented by now.

market withdrawal finally came the other day..
All weekend btc was up and down. having slowed to 60-67% "buy" activity on coinbase. from 77% during is main surge.
There was an obvious stop at 30k. it would rise, fall, and as soon as it hit 30k, people would clearly buy, and cause it to spike back up.

I had originally expected it to start dropping, probably down to 20kish.. and was going to try and wait till then. but, then noting that trend, its clear a good amount of people saw 30k as the plateau. so, said ok. when it drops to 30kish...

it can't just keep going up can it? its just kept going up since..

Also, now also wondering if I should pull the initial buys out. thats up 50% in 2 weeks.. (it was 50% Eth, 50% BTC. eth gains were higher)

Yeah, I do not think we will go below 20k again.

Did not sell out as I was betting that above 20k is the new low and there won’t be any buy back in for those who sold at around 20k.

I just try to balance between going omg, gotta cash out and waiting till I’m 80 years old for Bitcoin to hit 1 million each.

Not sure if you figured this out yet but if you click on Bitcoin -> BTC Wallet you can see your history... you can then click on your individual transactions and see how much you bought, at what price, and what the price of the coin was at the time. That is the only way I've been able to figure out cost basis.. by looking at that and doing the math myself.

It'll go below 20k only after a better cryptocurrency takes it over. Who knows when that'll happen.

It'll probably also go below 20k when the bottom falls out like last time too.

Yeah, empires come and go and the same will go for crypto coins.

I’m betting it won’t go below 20k in the next couple of years 🤷🏼‍♂️

What price did you buy it at? lol.
not sure. like $700 or something. $1 vs $1k is kind of irrelevant at this point except I'd feel retarded for not buying a hundred if I bought one at $1.

So I'm not sure that I buy this narrative, but figured the thread was worth sharing. $20,000 ETH prediction

I like ETH, 20k seems insane even as a bubble top. Interesting hypothesis though

going to break $40k today. its at 39,608 right now. so might be, by the time I post this.

My Eth was outperforming my BTC over the last 2 weeks, yeah.

Someone pointed out r/cryptocurrency to me. Did some reading.

Beginner thread seemed useful.
Beginner tipes and Resources

one thing I did a lite dive in was sms 2fa vs authenticator like Google Authenticator. when I signed up for coinbase it asked this, and it was not something I was aware of previously. 2fa is not very safe apparently.

Wallets are something, Im pretty still in the dark about.

Am I the only one scared to seee BTC at 35k
i'm still a giant noob about this stuff. But I thought this thread had some interesting ideas.

If it were still the same market with the same players, I'd say your fears were justified. However, the market is now being dominated by institutional players with billions of dollars at stake. If it starts to drop, they will scoop up billions more at the new low prices, leading to more illiquidity in the market, leading - ultimately - to even higher prices than where we are right now.

If you see the market drop, either sell with a plan to get back into it at a lower price (if you think you can time it properly), or just hold and wait for it to come back.
This one, pointing out, the institutional power driving this bubble. As I noted, it was spiking, with buys at 30k.
With 739billion market cap, for a 5% rebound, someone is investing 37billion, correct? That's not whales, or bit players like me doing that.

And as pointed out, the opposite is true. more money in it, the less unstable it gets. no more million dollar whales going in or out, causing major shifts in its value.
Any swings won't be instant.

I made my extra buys last night. I wanted to wait for a dip, after 2 days of no dip. going from 33k, up to 37k.. and "trading activity" on bitcoin raising up. I started to get the idea, is not going to dip any time soon.

60/40 BTC/ETH despite ETh outperforming BTC

They mention using a program like coinly or cointracker to track trades. the implication seemingly like those will do cost-basis for you?
Make sure you are aware of your countries specific laws regarding capital gains. Keep track of all your buys and sells so you can come up with a cost-basis. If you are a high-frequency trader consider using a software program like coinly or cointracker to keep track of all your trades.

It hit 40.2k but now dropping. We'll see if it rebounds. 38K now
